Trustee News

The Board of Trustees of the Town of Pelham Library is happy to announce the appointment of Amie Hughes to the Board. Amie is a communications pro with almost three decades of experience as a journalist, publisher, editor, PR/marketing executive and adjunct college professor of English. Crafty Adults: Vintage Button Bouquets

Join us in February at the Library as we bring back a Crafty Adults favorite - Vintage Button Bouquets!


The perfect Valentine for someone you love or for yourself! These sweet blooms will last forever and are a fun way to repurpose old buttons and glass spice jars. All materials will be provided. Ayurvedic Approaches

Join us for a series of health lectures from Dr. Somesh N. Kaushik! This month's session will cover hypertension.

Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow with the New-York Historical Society

Black Americans have long fought for full membership in the American community. Freedom, citizenship, and the right to vote were all extended to African Americans after the Civil War. But by the early 1900s, a repressive racial system known as “Jim Crow” had sabotaged these liberties. This presentation from the New-York Historical Society explores this half-century of stunning advances and reversals. It takes place on Zoom and registration is required. STOP THE BLEED®

Peter Seifert, a Specialist with the NY Guard will be teaching the American College of Surgeons' STOP THE BLEED® program here at the Library. In this class, you will learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out:

  1. How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound
  2. How to pack a wound to control bleeding
  3. How to correctly apply a tourniquet.

Adult Hybrid Book Clubs

The After-Dark Book Club will meet on Thursday, February 2 at 7:30 pm to discuss Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones and on Thurday, March 2 at 7:30 pm to discuss The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II by Denise Kiernan.


The 2nd-Friday Book Club will meet on February 10 at 10:30 am to discuss Song Yet Sung by James McBride and on March 10th at 10:30 am to discuss How Beautiful We Were by Imbolo Mbue.


Book Clubs are currently meeting both in person at the Library and on Zoom. This is subject to change. Please check our website for updates.

ANOTHER Notary at the Library!

We are pleased to announce that we now have FIVE licensed NY State Notary Publics on staff! Congratulations to our Children's Librarian, Florence, who just passed the exam (and celebrated her birthday). Generally our hours for notarization follow our regular hours, but please call in advance to make sure a notary will be available when you plan your visit.

The Library will be closed on February 20th in observance of Presidents Day.

We will reopen with our normal hours at 10 am on Tuesday, February 21.

Children's News and Events

Stuffed Animal Sleepover Story Time

Bring your favorite stuffed animal for a fun craft and bedtime story. Then leave them for an overnight sleepover. When you pick them up on Thursday, we will provide you with a link to see a brief video of what the animals were up to at the Library! This program is for children ages four and up. Valentine's Day Trees

Come and decorate your very own tree full of love this Valentine's Day. We will have trees available at the community craft table ready to be assembled and decorated with hearts, sparkly stickers, and more. All ages are welcome to participate.

JLP Story Time and Craft

This month the Junior League of Pelham will be here at the Library reading Hugs & Kisses for the Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle. They will also be showing us how to make valentines. Please note that this is a family program that requires adult supervision geared towards children ages four to six. This program takes place at the Library and we recommend registering in advance here.

Wednesday, February 8, 3:30-4:15 pm 🏛

Kids Crafts: Snow Globe Aquariums

Bring the ocean home with you. Make an aquarium out of a glass jar that we provide. No cleaning or feeding the fish required. Registration is not required; first come, first served. This program is geared towards children and teens ages four and up.

Tuesday, February 21, 1-2 pm 🏛 

Dental Story Time

Dental hygienist Joanne Roos leads a Story Time teaching good dental health to preschoolers. Goodie bags will be given out. No registration is required; first come, first served. This program is geared towards children ages four and up.

Thursday, February 23, 1-2 pm 🏛 

Kids Crafts: Make-A-Dinosaur

Have some prehistoric fun and create your own dinosaur. We'll provide the construction paper and decorating supplies. No registration is required; first come, first served. This program is geared towards children ages four and up.

Friday, February 24, 1-2 pm 🏛 

Outdoor Story Time

Join us for our popular Story Time for infants and toddlers outside on our front lawn. Story Time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children's books in which all children can see themselves represented... plus we have a lot of fun! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Story Time will be held outdoors throughout the year, but will be cancelled on days when the temperature is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4.4 C) at 9:30 am, or if it is raining. Cancellations will be posted on our website at the top of our homepage. You may also call the Library when we open at 10 am to inquire.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:30-11 am 🏛

Current Library Hours are as follows:

  • Monday: 1 pm-8 pm
  • Tuesday: 10 am-5 pm
  • Wednesday: 10 am-5 pm
  • Thursday:10 am-8 pm
  • Friday: 10 am-5 pm
  • Saturday: 10 am-4 pm


  • The library building is open to patrons for browsing and checking out materials. Computers, printer, and study areas are also available to patrons. Social distancing and wearing masks is greatly appreciated.
  • We also continue to offer contactless, curbside pickup (you can place holds using the Westchester Library System app or through our online catalog.)
  • You can visit our digital library and select ebooks, audiobooks through Overdrive (including the Libby App) and Hoopla or stream movies through Kanopy.
  • Our librarians are always available to answer reference questions, give book recommendations, and provide technology help. Notary services are generally available during Library open hours. Please call in advance to confirm.
