MAYOR DEMINGS' DIGEST

Hello everyone,

There is so much to look forward to in May as we take time to celebrate mothers, veterans and all those who continue to make a difference in our lives. Join us as we recognize our veterans and active-duty service members during the Cypress Grove Memorial Day Salute. Additionally, we will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice during our annual War Memorial Commemoration Ceremony at the Orange County Courthouse.

You will also have the opportunity to experience diverse Asian cultures and traditions at the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration. This event, which takes place at the County Administration Building, will feature traditional performances and family-friendly activities that highlight the contributions of our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.

In response to recent events related to gun violence, I have reconvened Orange County’s Citizens Safety Task Force and launched a Community Crime Survey to help better understand and address this serious issue. Please take a few moments to share your thoughts by taking this short, confidential survey, which is available in English, Spanish and Creole. The results will help guide the task force as it re-examines the effectiveness of past recommendations.

Finally, I would like to take a moment to wish all mothers and mother figures a very happy Mother’s Day, including my amazing wife. Your love, guidance and support have truly been a blessing to our family.

Sincerely,

Jerry L. Demings - Orange County Mayor
