Employees of the Year:

LaKisha Holmes and Albert Guzman

Congratulations are in order for our 2023 Employees of the Year: LaKisha Holmes and Albert Guzman!

LaKisha serves as the San Antonio Lighthouse’s Transition to Work Program Supervisor. She implements weekly lessons for her students with different abilities, ages 18-24. Her lesson plans prepare them for internships and future employment, as well as to live life independently.

LaKisha was born with congenital glaucoma and despite major vision loss, she lives life to the brim. In addition to working full-time, LaKisha is completing her master’s degree in rehabilitative counseling from Texas Tech University Health Science Center and is graduating on May 6.

LaKisha is also a mother of two and runs her own small business.

Albert joined the San Antonio Lighthouse five years ago and has since become a versatile and key machine operator for many projects, including the CTAPS Arctic Trouser Project.

Albert was born with an eye condition that caused him to lose his peripheral vision and his ability to see color. However, his life is anything but monochromatic.

He is always cheering others up and even won the Spirit Award in 2019.

"Albert is an excellent representative of the San Antonio Lighthouse’s mission and culture," said Senior Manager of Supply Chain Robin Catalan.

LaKisha and Albert will be recognized at the National Industries for the Blind Conference in October.

Congratulations, LaKisha and Albert!
