FROM THE RECTOR
Dear People of Saint Paul's,

Summer has arrived, and with it the slower pace that (I have learned) is actually a survival mechanism. For many of us, our household and work routines are significantly altered during the summer as people travel and kids are out of school. The slower pace often does not translate into more relaxation or more time to do what we want--think of how hard we all work before and after a week of vacation to make that vacation possible. If your routine is seriously disrupted, if there are more weeks this summer than usual when you cannot get to church, I commend to you the very brief Daily Devotions for Individuals and Families in the Book of Common Prayer. You can find them beginning on page 137 of the Prayer Book, or online here. These short prayer services take no expertise to do on your own and offer chances throughout the day to center yourself and remember God's presence. And of course, even if you miss church on Sunday, you can always "join" us by Facebook or Youtube.

At the church, summer is usually the season for planning. We have a lot of plans afoot, but I want to highlight some of our work around formation. This week we sent out a survey to help us in our effort to build the most robust and helpful adult formation program possible. You can find it here and I hope you'll fill it out. We want to build a program that deepens faith and enriches lives for the whole congregation, including but not limited to the "regulars." On Sunday mornings at the Adult Forum, we're beginning this week a summer-long series (with interruptions) on the Apostles Creed. We'll use the Creed as a jumping off place to talk about all kinds of interesting things related to living a life in response to God's grace. I'm very excited about it and hope you'll join us when you can. And finally, one of the things church leadership heard most clearly from some recent listening sessions was the need for a staff member to coordinate ministries centered on our young people. I fully expect that staff position to be filled this summer, so watch for continued momentum in our children's programs and a reinvigoration of youth programs.

Stay hydrated, and we'll see you Sunday.
