Greetings from Bright’s Creek,
The tree removal project is progressing well and most of the targeted trees have been removed. The few remaining trees will come down over the next two weeks. We will begin grinding the stumps in March and expect it to take 3 weeks to remove them all. With increasing temperatures and spring just around the corner it all most time to begin applying our annual preemergent herbicide to prevent the germination of crabgrass. This should start next week and take a week to complete if the weather cooperates.
We are proud to host a women’s collegiate invitational this weekend. Hosted by Gardner Webb and Head Coach Tee Burton, we will have 8 teams of collegiate ladies’ golfers competing over two days. Member tee times will still be available, please call the golf shop for additional information.
Tip from our Golf Professional …Teeing Ground and Fairway Bunkers
Tom Fazio is very strategic and thoughtful in his placement of fairway bunkers. They provide aesthetics, framing, and targets from the teeing ground. The bunkers can also be penal and cost you a shot. When that is the case, they should be avoided. Choosing the proper teeing ground allows you to avoid fairway bunkers. You should either play short of them or hit your shot past them. Be strategic in your choice of teeing ground and avoid our fairway bunkers.
Regards and thank you for your support of the club,
