BEDS Bulletin! Maria Foscarinis, founder and executive director of the National Homelessness Law Center, opined in The Hill that Congress must include substantial, transformative funding increases for housing for the poorest Americans. Without stable housing, she said their chances of success are diminished. Foscarinis said the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the life-threatening consequences of the absence of a home and its implications for entire communities. "The housing investments in Build Back Better have the potential to end homelessness and stem its tide. They would save and transform lives while also saving taxpayer dollars," she said.

Congratulations to TJ, who recently started a new career at Plymouth Place. TJ reached out to his case manager after losing his job in the food services industry, worried he might fall behind on rent. The COVID-19 pandemic placed increased demand on essential workers like TJ, who has developmental disabilities and was unable to meet that pressure and was subsequently let go. Together, TJ and his case manager completed a work assessment and started to work with our Employment Specialist Bill Burke to find jobs that TJ would be successful and thrive in. Bill helped find TJ a career through a new partnership with senior living facility Plymouth Place, an all-inclusive work environment that employs individuals who have special needs like TJ. Plymouth Place is truly compassionate about providing long-term employment and stability. We couldn't be happier about this new partnership and new opportunity for TJ, who is thrilled to be back in the workforce!
