Vestry Nominees
We are so excited to announce another excellent slate of vestry candidates! Harvey Dyer, Teresia Harwell, and Jenny Waldo have been selected by the Nominating Committee (formed of the 3 outgoing vestry members), and have agreed to serve in this capacity. They will be elected by voice acclamation at our Annual Parish Meeting on January 22nd. Below are short bios of each candidate. Many thanks to them for their willingness to serve, and to the Nominating Committee for putting together such a wonderful slate!
Harvey Dyer
I was born at Merced Army Air Field in Merced, California. I moved to Texas in 1947 with my three brothers, sister, grandmother, and parents. I was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church. I attended Alamo Heights, TMI, and Seguin High Schools. I also attended the University of Texas and SW Texas State before going into the army and serving in Panama. I met and married my wife Georgia in 1971. That’s 51 years and counting! We are the proud parents of three daughters. We attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Katy, where I served as acolyte master and head of the every member canvas. I got involved in the automobile business, working in most management positions. My career included stops in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Houston, and Austin. My last position was Vice President and General Manager of Mercedes Benz of Austin and subsidiaries for the last nineteen years. I retired in 2012 and have lived in Horseshoe Bay ever since.
Teresia Harwell
I am a retiree living in Granite Shoals since 2017, a mother to twin almost 40 year-old daughters, grandmother to three boys and life partner to a wonderful man. My career morphed through lots of interesting jobs but I started my "real" career as an architectural designer/project manager, then into leading a program management department for USAA. I have been an Episcopalian since I was about 12 which has led to many experiences over years of service. I have led youth groups, taught Sunday School, been on countless committees, was part of Praise & Worship music groups, served on several Call Committees and served as Junior Warden on a couple of vestries. As most of us know, it's very easy to find work to be done as a member of a church family. I look forward to serving this family and getting to know all of you better in the process.
Jenny Waldo
Jenny was born in Amarillo. She majored in music at Texas Tech. She and David have two adult sons, a six-month-old granddaughter, and an adoring dog. Married thirty-nine years, they lived in seven different countries before David retired, and they’ve been in Marble Falls for seven years. Jenny enjoys making quilts and she’s an unenthusiastic cook. She has an MFA in creative writing and two of her novels have been published in the UK.

After all we have made it through the Thanksgiving (thanking) and Christmas (giving) seasons and should be starting something new or maybe finishing something old? How about taking each new day thanking God for his many blessings and finding ways to give your time, energy, and love to help others. Thanksgiving and Christmas wrapped together to make your New Year a daily dose of joy! Please take the time to know more about these community non-profits who presented at our Giving Fair in December and look for an opportunity to add to your New Year daily dose of joy!

Worship Ministries Training & Refresher
Sunday, February 5, 9:15-10:15am
Sunday worship is vital & vibrant thanks to so many, especially all those who serve as Acolytes, Chalice Bearers, Lectors, and Ushers. If you serve in these roles, please join us for a brief training & refresher. Please bring your accumulated wisdom to share & questions to ask.
We welcome anyone who is interested in exploring one or more of these rewarding ministries to join us on February 5! Those who want to explore any of these ministries can do just that: explore, with no pressure to commit.
Worship Ministries:
Acolyte - Supports worship by making the final preparations for worship (such as lighting candles), by carrying the cross, and by bearing the Gospel Book.
Chalice Bearer - Primarily a ministry of hospitality. Chalice Bearers share the consecrated wine at Holy Communion. They also bear the Gospel Book at the 10:30 service.
Lector - Communicating the Word of the Lord by reading the Sunday Scripture Readings. Readers also lead us in the Prayers of the People.
Ushers - Also a ministry of hospitality. Ushers welcome people to worship by handing out bulletins & opening doors. They also help with the smooth flow of people up to Holy Communion.

Report from the Garden, January, 2023
Note: This begins a series of periodic seasonal reports from The Garden at Trinity.
Due to the overwhelming generosity of the congregation at Trinity, Marble Falls, The Garden was able to produce and deliver to the Helping Center over 4,000 pounds of fresh, organically grown produce in 2022. We could not have done this without the awesome support The Garden has received from Trinity. 2023 will be our fourth growing season in The Garden and it is our goal to surpass our 2022 production by at least 10%. We are in The Garden every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday beginning at 8am, and always welcome guests for either tours or to do some work and get dirty. Currently in The Garden we are growing onions and preparing beds for spring planting. The rainwater tank, which collects water from the Parish Hall roof, is about half full, which is a real improvement over this past summer. Again, thank you for your amazing support for what we believe is a very positive contribution towards ending hunger in Burnet County.
| | One Human Race is a ministry of the Myra McDaniel chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians, and offers a safe, open, and productive environment for people to learn and share about race. In the workshop we will watch the documentary Race: The Power of an Illusion, examine concepts related to race, and share in small groups. |
Women's Bible/Book Study
Tuesday, Jan. 17, Noon-1:30
Parish Hall Classroom
Think about your earliest memories of Jesus. Of the 90 times Jesus is addressed directly in the New Testament, 60 of them refer to Jesus as Teacher/Rabbi. What does it mean to you to have Jesus as your friend and your teacher? Please read as much of the first two chapters as you can in Freeing Jesus by Diana Butler Bass. Come for a lively discussion. Led by Sally Anderson.

Sunday Adult Education
9:15 - 10:15am in the Parish Hall Classroom
Our usual Sunday class is a journey through the Bible using The Path. Occasionally, we branch off The Path as noted in the schedule below. The Path is the story of the Bible, excerpted in a format that is clear & easy to read. To prime our pumps for discussion, please read the Chapter and its Questions for the Journey from The Path before the assigned Sunday. You are always welcome to attend class whether you have done the assigned reading or not.
