2021 December Issue
Letter from the Board of Trustees Chair
We welcome Juanita J. (VA), who was appointed to the Board of Trustees (“BOT”) in November and now there is a full nine (9) member BOT.

The LifeSaver Program has raised over $70,000 from member, group and intergroup contributions since it began back in April 2020, helping the Fellowship realize over $140,000 in total revenue including the pledged matching funds. Seventh Tradition contributions were approximately equal to the amount of the revenue the Fellowship realized from the sale of literature and e-books in the 2021 fiscal year ending on September 30, 2021.

Due to the COVID pandemic’s impact on the ABC/M there has been a temporary lull in the new literature that is being published by the Fellowship. Nevertheless, sales of recently available digital (PDF) pamphlets from the web store have helped get the message out to the addict who still suffers. Further, Sober Dating Questions package and A State of Grace – Daily Meditations are also now available on both Amazon and Apple.

Three (3) Intergroups submitted applications to host an in-person 2022 ABC/M. Two of those three applications remain under consideration, as well as possible other in-person options. The BOT has not yet determined whether the 2022 ABC/M will be virtual or in-person (or hybrid). A decision on the 2022 ABC/M by the BOT is expected soon.

Our reality and our world as we know it continue to evolve and change as many of us find it necessary to remain in our shelter-in-place mode and attend virtual meetings. We want to be able to attend in-person meetings but there still remain safety considerations so many of us remain less connected. Now more than ever we need to reach out to the addict who still suffers and find ways to reconnect with those who can help keep us sober and recover. Please stay safe.

Service feeds Sobriety,
Seth S.

Letter from the Executive Director
Autumn greetings from the Alamo City…beautiful San Antonio, Texas! While the leaves have finally begun to fall here, we still have 20-degree temperature swings from one day to the next. Such unpredictable weather makes it hard to remember at times that winter (such as it is in South Texas!) is coming.

Since the last edition of the Newsletter, we have added a new format for some of our recovery literature! You may now purchase PDF versions of S.L.A.A. pamphlets from the web store and download them immediately. These have been a big hit with our members!

Speaking of literature, there is a new literature bundle available for sale on the S.L.A.A. website. The Newcomer Bundle is a selection of items (a Basic Text, two booklets, seven booklets, and a Welcome chip) designed specifically with the newcomer in mind. It is available for $29.99 (with FREE SHIPPING), which is a nice discount as compared to purchasing the items individually.

The limited-edition hard-cover “A State of Grace” book is sold out! “Thank You” to everyone who added this special book to their bookshelf! The soft-cover edition is still available and would make a great holiday gift for your sponsor, sponsee, service buddy, newcomer, or recovery friend! Who wouldn’t love the gift of 365 days of daily recovery-centered meditations?

As always, the F.W.S. Office extends to all our members around the world our very best wishes for a warm, healthy and safe holiday season. We look forward to continuing to serve you in 2022!

Respectfully,
Pam Martin
Executive Director
