Dear All Souls Members, Friends and Fans,

We have been through so much since the very first shutdown in 2020. Many of us are still recovering from the isolation and trauma of that time and the millions of lives that were lost and are still being lost to COVID. While the WHO (World Health Organization) recently announced that COVID no longer qualifies as a global health emergency and that is causing some excitement, COVID is still with us as a community, a nation and a world.

As leadership, we feel the desire to sing from the balconies. To thank the healthcare workers, to demonstrate joy and triumph if only for a little while. We are also responsible people of science and we must remain appropriately vigilant for the next wave and also to protect the most vulnerable among us with reasonable measures. Lives are still being lost and this recent article in Science cites WHO’s director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as saying “The worst thing any country could do now is to use this news as a reason to let down its guard, to dismantle the systems it has built, or to send the message to its people that COVID-19 is nothing to worry about” and “This virus is here to stay. It’s still killing and it’s still changing. The risk remains of new variants emerging that cause new surges in cases.”

Leadership will be reviewing our current COVID policy over the next month and will notify you of any changes via email in June. In the interim, the current policy remains in effect. Please honor this policy and the signage that is in place to protect our community.

If you have any thoughts, questions, suggestions or feedback, please do email [email protected] and [email protected] by May 15th.

Believing in you,

Rev. Katie and the Board of Trustees
