For the sake of our community's safety during the uptick in Omicron variant cases, the Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce will now be hosting its 98th Annual Member Meeting on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the UF Hilton Conference Center.
 
The Annual Member Meeting will include a cocktail hour, a plated dinner, a presentation from the outgoing and incoming chairman, special awards and recognitions, and special announcements. This will be followed by an after-dinner dessert and coffee reception.

ELECTION UPDATE
Reminder: City of Gainesville Special Election Run-off January 25

As you know, one key step to ensuring the business voice is heard is to become informed on the issues that matter to our community and to vote. The City of Gainesville Special Election Run-off to fill the vacant At-Large Commission Seat will be Tuesday, January 25. The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot was January 15 by 5:00 pm. And early voting will take place between Friday, January 21 to Sunday, January 23.

Colliers’ GNV Commercial Advisory Team has successfully represented Exactech, Inc., the seller, in the sale of the 8,360± SF office building located at 2405 NW 66th Court in Gainesville, Florida to Interdisciplinary Consulting Corporation, the buyer. The buyer was represented by Avison Young-Florida in Gainesville.

UF Treeo Center Center Offers
OSHA Training

The University of Florida’s Office of Professional and Workforce Development (OPWD) is proud to be selected as a Host Training Organization (HTO) for OSHA courses offered by the OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Center at Volunteer State Community College (VSCC.). The goal of OSHA courses is to reduce workplace fatalities and injuries by teaching the application of OSHA standards in hazard recognition and prevention. 
 
The OTI Education Centers are a national network of non-profit organizations authorized by OSHA to deliver occupational safety and health training to public and private sector workers, supervisors, and employers on behalf of OSHA. OPWD previously created the Safety and Health Management for Leadership courses under the department of Training Research and Education for Environmental Occupations (UF TREEO). This series of courses aims to help employers and workers comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act. 
 
“The agreement between our two institutions allows us to support OSHA’s mission to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for workers through education and training,” says Andrew Campbell, Director of the University of Florida’s Office of Professional and Workforce Development.

HCA Florida Healthcare and Galen College of Nursing Announce New Campuses in Gainesville and Sarasota

NASHVILLE, TN (Jan. 13, 2022) – Galen College of Nursing and HCA Florida Healthcare, both part of HCA Healthcare, continued their mission to expand access to quality nursing education with today’s announcement of new campuses in Sarasota and Gainesville. With existing Florida campus locations in Tampa Bay and Miami, Galen, one of the largest educators of nurses in the United States, will double its footprint in the state to help address the state’s nursing workforce needs.
