The Funeral Mass for Dave Jebousek, longtime parishioner and St. John School parent, and husband of Mary Kay, will be on Saturday, May 20th at 11am in the church.

The funeral Mass will also be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend.

Please pray for the Jebousek family.

Please support the Annual Catholic Appeal!

St. John’s ACA goal this year is $87,833. Each dollar makes a difference in helping to fund the more than 60 essential ministries in the Archdiocese. Please prayerfully consider how you can participate in helping our parish be a light to others. Thanks to the over 60 families who have already made their pledge. By receiving $24,225 in pledges and gifts, we are just under 30% of our goal!

Asante sana!

Golden Fellowship Update:

Calling all who are interested in participating in this great tradition at

St. John! We are planning to bring back our popular Golden Fellowship gatherings that were put on hold in the Spring of 2020 due to the pandemic. This is a great way for senior members of our community to come together to share a meal and fellowship.

We are still in the planning stages, and we are working to meet the needs of those who want to join us. So please let us know if you, or someone you know, are interested in taking part in this program and feel free to share any ideas you have. Please email or call Teresa Gillett at tgillett@stjohnsea.org or 206-782-2810 ex 355 and let her know!

CONFERENCE vs COUNCIL

CONFERENCE

Our St. John the Evangelist parish conference of St. Vincent de Paul is just one of the 56 parish conferences which make up the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Council of Seattle/King County. Each conference is tasked with providing help to neighbors in need within its parish boundaries.

COUNCIL

The Seattle/King County Council, is the umbrella that provides services to help the individual conferences. The Council obtains grants, operates the help-line, files our tax returns, and provides training for our members . They operate a food bank in Georgetown and thrift stores located in Burien, Kenmore, Kent and Renton. When the needs of the neighbors we visit are more than we can provide, they have case managers who can support and collaborate with us to address more complex needs of our neighbors.

SO - it’s not really Conference VS Council. It’s Conference WITHIN Council. We work together to provide neighbors with survival assistance and to prevent eviction, hunger, utility shut-off and more. Both are worthy of your support.

Liturgical Life of the Parish

Catholic Bible

The Bible used by the Catholic Church includes a few books that some other Christians do not consider equally sacred. The formation of the Bible took many centuries, and there is still not complete agreement over which books belong between its covers. Read more.

May Focus on St. John

When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. John 19:26-27

God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus. He prepared her to be Jesus’ mother from the beginning of her life. Mary agreed to be the mother and her yes to God’s plan for her life began to undo Eve’s disobedience to God in the Garden of Eden. When He was dying on the cross, Jesus gave His mother to John the Apostle and to all of us. Read more.
