President's Message:
Dear AIA Members,
Looking back at our annual meeting in December, we polled the members attending on what services should be enhanced to create value to our membership.
The following is a condensed version of the top 6 responses members identified. We have also identified some achievements accomplished this year.
- HSW learning units
- Individual Chapters /sections scheduling at a good pace
- Conference and seminars with added HSW credits
- More sessions are being planned in coming months
- Engagement of alternate professions/organizations
- Construction Association of Michigan symposium on teaming
- Association of General Contractors (AGC) Collaboration
- Michigan Architectural Foundation (MAF) Collaboration
- Improve communication / advertising campaign
- Recently added part time staff person to focus on Public Relations and acquiring new members
- Emerging Professional Development (EPC) & bridging architectural schools
- EPC Committees are scheduling monthly meetings
- Fall event will be planned
Congratulations to the Michigan Board and the individual Chapters / Sections that have committed their time and even money in advancing the profession. The mission of providing value to our membership is still one of our main goals. Please join me in sending this message to all architects across the State of Michigan. Individual participation is a greater value to the organization and is extremely rewarding. Your expertise, knowledge and friendship could one day be inspirational to the next generation of architects.
Finally, I would like to thank the more than 100+ members that attended the AIA National Conference in Philadelphia. It you have never been to Philadelphia it is definitely worth a trip!
Any feedback or comments are welcome!
Thanks for listening and enjoy the warm weather!!
