President's Message

LaTashia Headshot

Greetings Nations Capital Chapter Members,

I pray that your January was filled with reflection for the New Year! The month of January was busy with Potomac & Chesapeake (P&C) Council Meetings and National IMA Trainings.

The P & C Council meeting was held but it seems that a quorum could not be reached as the additional chapters did not have representation. If you know of anyone who is a member of the Virginia Chapters encourage them to attend the P & C Meeting.

During January, the National IMA hosted the Virtual Chapter and Council Resources meeting and the Campus Influencer Information Session, of which we had attendance present from our chapter. Please continue to read your Friday Roundup and join the presentations. As a chapter, we receive credit for CPE and Non-CPE gatherings. We would like to plan a non-CPE gathering to celebrate Black History Month and various other multicultural celebrations. Feel free to email me at the email address below.

We also learned more detail about the organizational restructuring for which Narnesha is no longer our Community Relations Manager. Now, Juliana Napalit will be our main point of contact at IMA as Community Relations Manager.

Volunteer with IMA and Advance Your Career

IMA has a variety of short- and long-term volunteer opportunities available! Joining a local IMA chapter allows you to connect with accounting and finance professionals and organizations in your community, while also giving you the chance to develop your finance and leadership skills, boost your career, and enhance your project planning and presentation abilities. Apply now to volunteer as a leader with IMA! Applications are due by February 6, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET and you must be an IMA member in good standing with strong ethical values.

We are still encouraging members to utilize your IMAnet page to attend any chapter CPE and events that are listed. This is a great way to build connections and broaden our networks across the globe. We as a chapter will also be using this technology to stay connected with chapter members.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at our next non-CPE activity during the last week of February.

Regards,

LaTashia
