Dear River Forest residents,

During the February 28 Village Board meeting, the Trustees and I received an update on the Des Plaines River Trail project. In conjunction with the Forest Preserves of Cook County, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning is working to extend the Des Plaines River Trail through River Forest and south into Forest Park. These sections will connect the River Trail to the Forest Park Transit Center and the Illinois Prairie Path. Click here for more. I am excited to reaffirm my support for this project, and we look forward to it becoming a reality in the coming years. To see the future River Trail map click here

I am also pleased to announce the Village is expecting $30,735 in funding from the County to reimburse for work completed during the Village’s Phase 1 Bicycle Plan implementation. Click here to learn more about the Village’s Plan and for other important bicycling information and resources.

Yesterday, I attended a vigil with other River Forest residents in solidarity with Ukraine and its fight for freedom and democracy. At the Village Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, March 14, the Board and I will consider a resolution in support of Ukraine. As part of that action, the Trustees and I would order the Ukrainian flag to be flown on the Village flag pole outside Village Hall. To watch or join the Village Board meeting on Monday, click here

Sincerely,
Cathy Adduci, Village President

COVID-19 Update
Per the Governor’s updated executive order, indoor mask requirements are lifted in most indoor settings. All long-term care facilities are required to continue following guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) regarding the use of face coverings. Masks are currently required for all residents, staff, and visitors to long-term care facilities, congregate facilities (i.e. – correctional facilities and homeless shelters) and in healthcare settings, regardless of vaccination status. Additionally, pursuant to federal mandates, all individuals over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a face covering on public transportation including, but not limited to, planes, trains, and buses and while in transportation hubs such as airports and bus stations. Masks are still recommended in areas of high risk and high transmission. To read the full press release, click here
