Village Board Approves Joint Review Board Appointments
At the February 8 Village Board meeting, the Board approved the appointment of Anne Kritzmire, Village Representative, and Richard Terrett, Public-at-Large member, to the Joint Review Board (JRB). The JRB is the recommending body to the Village Board on discussions and proposals pertaining to Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts. The JRB is required for the upcoming annual reports due to the State on the status of the IL 83/Downtown and South Gateway TIF districts. To learn more about the Village’s TIF districts, visit longgroveil.gov/finance.
John Marshall Appointed to AC
The Village Board unanimously approved the appointment of John Marshall as a member of the Architectural Commission (AC) at the latest Board meeting on February 8. Mr. Marshall served previously as a Village Trustee from 2009 - 2017, and for several years earlier as a member of the AC and the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. The Village welcomes Mr. Marshall back as a valued volunteer and appreciates his community service and his extensive experience as a general contractor working in residential and commercial construction.
Property Code Amended to Allow Swimming Pool Covers
The Village recently amended a property maintenance code that now allows for either an enclosure fence or a self-closing powered safety cover for residential swimming pools, spas and hot tubs. Previously, the code required a fence. Please note: Powered safety covers need to be compliant with ASTM F1346 and Section 305 of the Swimming Pool and Spa Code, have self-latching locks and be in good operating condition. The amendment also reinforces the responsibility on homeowners to ensure that fence gates and doors are kept closed and latched, and safety covers are fully closed and secured, at all times when swimming pools, spas and hot tubs are unattended.
