City of Mountain View Holiday Hours

Most City of Mountain View offices and non-emergency response facilities will be closed or have modified hours during the City holiday closure from Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, through Monday, Jan. 2, 2023. The Emergency Communications Center and other essential public safety services will remain in operation. The Senior Center, Library and Eagle Park pool will have modified days and hours of service during this time.



Regular business hours and services to the public will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023.

City of Mountain View Seeks Input on Housing Displacement Response Strategy

Preventing tenant displacement is a top priority for the City of Mountain View. The City will hold a comprehensive community outreach process in January and February 2023 to gather public input about potential policies and programs for preventing and addressing the displacement of Mountain View tenants from their homes.

The City will host several public meetings in January and February. Many will be virtual with one in-person meeting on Thursday, Jan. 26. The meeting schedule is as follows:

Schedule a One-on-One Feedback Meeting with City Staff

In addition, the City invites individuals and organizations to meet one-on-one with staff to provide input on policies and programs to consider as part of the displacement response strategy. Contact displacementresponse@mountainview.gov to schedule a meeting or to send any questions or comments. A response will be provided within 48 hours.

CDBG and City General Fund Grants

On Monday, Dec. 5, the City opened the application period for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and General Fund funds. Grant funds are awarded every two years to public service organizations that provide projects and programs for low-income households. A total of $301,500 is available to fund public services, $746,100 is available for eligible capital projects, and $30,000 is available for implementing a minor home repair program.


The application period closes Jan. 17 at 5 p.m. 


Funding will be awarded subject to recommendations from the Human Relations Commission and approval by the City Council in late April 2023. The program year starts on July 1, 2023.

First Installment of Elevate MV Payments to

Hit Home for the Holiday Season!

This September, the City of Mountain View launched its guaranteed basic income pilot program Elevate MV


This pilot program is an opportunity for extremely low-income Mountain View families to elevate their basic income and improve their financial security. Participating families receive direct cash payments of $500 per month for 24 months.


Elevate MV serves 166 Mountain View families who were chosen by an impartial, random process and have successfully enrolled with the City’s nonprofit partner Community Services Agency (CSA). Each participating family will receive their first monthly payments Dec. 15.

SVCE Wants to Give Up to $10,000

for the Next Big Clean Energy Idea

Do you have the next big idea for the world of clean energy? Are you interested in organizing community climate action events? Have you ever wanted to be part of the fight against climate change? Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is proud to announce the opening of the 2022–2023 Education Fund application.


The SVCE Education Fund is an education initiative that funds environmental projects led by local schools. The project must relate to SVCE’s mission of reducing reliance on fossil fuels and combating climate change. You can apply for project funding if you are a teacher, student or staff member in the SVCE service area. In past cycles, SCVE has sponsored many types of projects in various fields, from STEM to the creative arts to community event organizing.


Project applicants can earn up to $10,000 in funding. The application cycle closes on Monday, Jan. 20. Mark your calendars and start designing your project!

Happening at the Library

In observance of Christmas, the Mountain View Public Library will be closed Friday, Dec. 23-Monday, Dec. 26. The Library will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27-Friday, Dec. 30. Upcoming events include:


  • Saturday, Dec. 17: Drop-in Bike Clinic – Stop by for help tuning up your ride from a professional bike mechanic at the Library’s Dero Fix-It station. 
  • Wednesday, Dec. 21: Christmas Dance Party – Celebrate the season with Christmas music from around the world. 
  • Thursday, Dec. 22: Holiday Homes – Decorate and build a holiday village.

Pickleball Court Expansion Pilot Open for Play

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, Rengstorff Park Tennis Courts 3 and 4 were dual-striped with blended lines for the Pickleball Pilot Program. 


The courts opened for pickleball play on Thursday, Dec. 8. Three rollaway Pickleball nets are available on courts 3 and 4 during playable hours. Nets will be available for rent at the Community Center front desk during business hours.

COVID-19 Resources Still Available for Those in Need

There are still resources available for people impacted by COVID-19 whether directly or indirectly to take care of a family member. Make sure to look at the County of Santa Clara Public Health COVID-19 resources directory.

Santa Clara County COVID-19 Levels Rising in All Four Wastewater Sewersheds 

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, the County of Santa Clara announced COVID-19 levels in all four wastewater sewersheds have drastically increased this past month. In addition, high levels of flu and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) have also been detected, resulting in an increase in hospitalizations. 


Per County public health officials, everyone is encouraged to check with their primary physician about receiving the flu and bivalent Omicron booster vaccines. People without a primary healthcare provider or having difficulty finding an appointment can go through sccFreeVax.org for an appointment.
