The Golden Apple is an award given by the Diocese of Toledo that goes to teachers who have shown achievement and are committed to Catholic education. To nominate a teacher from SCCS, click here for the form to submit along with a letter or recommendation to either Mr. Wikel or Mrs. MacMurray. Nominations are due by Friday, February 11, 2022.

HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY CONCERT CHOIR PERFORMANCE
On Sunday, January 30th there will be a free performance from the Heidelberg University Concert Choir at 3:00pm at St. Mary’s Church.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED - NEW TEMPORARY LICENSE AVAILABLE
Due to the shortage of substitute teachers during the pandemic, the state of Ohio has established a new, temporary substitute license. You do not need a bachelor's degree to qualify, only a high school diploma. The license expires on June 30, 2022 and is non-renewable.

If you would like to join our Panther substitute team this year, please email a letter of interest with your education and employment history to Lois Walsh at [email protected]. We will then be in touch to explain the process of obtaining this temporary license.

SMCC ATHLETIC EVENT VOLUNTEERS

JANUARY MARCO’S PIZZA NIGHT
January 20th is the first Marco's Pizza Night of 2022! Marco's will donate 15% of the sales from the night for phone orders and 20% of the online orders to SCCS. Proceeds for our January Marco's Pizza night will go to the 8th grade class trip. The classroom, Preschool through 5, that has the most orders will get a pizza party, so be sure to mention your teacher's name when ordering over the phone or click on your teacher’s name when ordering online. CLASS OF 2025 CHIPOTLE FUNDRAISER
The Class of 2025 is having a fundraiser at Chipotle on Saturday, January 22nd from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

Saturday, January 22nd is your chance to prove your chili is the best in Sandusky! It is time for the Catholic Parishes of Sandusky Chili Cook-Off.
PRESCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY NEWS
MINI CHEER CLINIC
Mrs. Oltman along with the high school and middle school cheerleaders are hosting the basketball season mini cheer clinic on Saturday, February 5th in the MPR for preschool through 5th graders. THE GIVING TREE 2022
Students in grades Preschool through 2nd grade are participating in a service project called The Giving Tree through Tuesday, January 18th. We are asking students to donate new hats and/or gloves to hang on a tree outside of Mrs. MacMurray's office. These hats and gloves will then be distributed to people in need at the Parish Community Supper.

SCCS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATIONS
All SCCS students in grades 8th through 12th are encouraged to fill out and submit applications to earn scholarships through the SCCS Education Foundation for the 2022-2023 school year. There are over $75,000 worth of scholarships available with a deadline of February 11th, 2022, to apply. Submit your applications in one of 3 ways:
