Building affordable homes in

Nez Perce and Asotin counties since 1991

March header

Homeownership is never contemplated or feels unattainable for many. At L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity, we believe that homeownership is a critical key in breaking the cycle of poverty, creating generational wealth, building strong families, and revitalizing communities.

The tools we use to accomplish this work stretch far beyond hammers and nails. Our strategic plan lays out a path forward for us to continue to grow and evolve as an advocate and producer of affordable and sustainable housing. The plan identifies four areas of strategic focus. Each goal identifies specific objectives that will assist board and staff in focusing their efforts and allocating our resources. Strategic Planning is one of many tools that allow us to build and repair homes. It’s amazing what four walls and a roof can do when they are created in the spirit of hope, dignity, and impact.

The journey to homeownership isn’t always easy—but it’s one worth taking. We will continue our mission of turning houses into homes and hold steadfast to our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Habitat Home #35 Construction Update

In February, we finished hanging the drywall as well as mudding, taping, and texturing it. The interior primer and finish coats have been applied, permitting us to move forward on some of the interior finishes.

We hung upper and lower kitchen cabinets and are now awaiting countertops. Finishing the electrical trim has provided much needed lighting throughout the house and has allowed the HVAC system to get wired up. Fisher Systems has begun their in-kind donation of a security and automation suite. This will provide full wireless control and monitoring of the house and its mechanical systems from anywhere in the world.

In March, we’ll be tackling the flooring, interior doors, base board trim, countertops, and the remaining plumbing. We’re confident we’ll have the home completed around the end of the month with a homeowner dedication to follow very soon!

Thank you, Fisher Systems!

Where are they now?

Brandy Willis, Habitat Homeowner #25, shared about her experience as we look back to some of our earlier Habitat homeowners. Read more about Brandy's story here.
