Greetings!

November is Military Family Appreciation Month

In Honor of Veteran's Day this past November 11th, and Military Family Appreciation Month; we highlight these heroes on our staff for their service and dedication to our country.

Our Staff Heroes
Mark Russell, Vice President - Business Development

Colonel (Ret) Mark Russell Enlisted in the United States Army in August 1987 to pay for college. His grand plan was three-year enlistment and go into the business world.  Clearly, he was sidetracked and went on to ROTC, served twenty-five years with three wartime deployments, and several overseas tours. Besides meeting his wife at the Captain's Career Course, Mark’s career highlight was serving as the Commanding Officer of the Army’s Communications Repair School in Augusta, GA.

Finally, his wish of the civilian business world came true in 2014 when he began a career in the utility industry. He often tells war stories (most of them we don’t believe), but it is evident he misses the military and the relationships and bonds with his fellow Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines by his passionate tales. Mark channels that same passion as our VP of Business Development and utilizes a common bond we have with veterans to break down barriers and develop long-term relationships.
Roger Halbakken, Senior Project Developer

Halbakken served on active duty in the US Navy from June 1980 to June 1986 as a Machinist Mate. He made three Western Pacific deployments aboard the USS Ogden (LPD-5) during that time. His responsibilities included operating and maintaining shipboard propulsion equipment and shipboard electrical generating equipment.

“My time in the Navy gave me both a skillset that led me into well-paying jobs operating power plants in the civilian sector, as well as helping me learn discipline, self-confidence, and teamwork skills necessary to earn my college degree and advance further into the utility/power sector. I don’t believe I would have accomplished nearly as much as I have so far in my career had I not served in the Navy, and still have an expectation to accomplish much more.”
George "Nick" Schwager, Senior Transmission Analyst

Schwager enlisted in the United States Air Force from Jan 1992 to Mar 1994 as a Ground Radio Communications Specialist where he served in the 416th Bomb Wing at Griffiss Air Force Base, New York. He later transferred into the Missouri Air National Guard from Mar 1994 to Sep 1998 where he worked in an Engineering and Installation unit stationed at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri.

Schwager is able to channel his experiences of working with diverse groups of people with different backgrounds and skills, to accomplish a singular mission with the NRS Team and its' projects today.
We are honored to have these heroes on our staff!
Thank you to you and your family's service and sacrifice for our country!
