Downtown Boise Association’s Spring Promotions: Mother’s Day Shopping Spree & Supersized First Thursday
Boise, April 28, 2021 Downtown Boise Association (DBA) has launched two campaigns designed to stimulate spending in the retail, services, and hospitality sectors while adding vibrancy to Downtown Boise. Mother’s Day Shopping Spree and First Thursday are both long-lived, signature promotions for DBA; this year they launch with a new spin.

Mother’s Day Shopping Spree is a three-week promotion in which patrons of participating businesses can enter their mothers (or themselves) into a drawing to win one of three gift baskets, filled with goods from locally-owned businesses in Downtown Boise. Participating businesses donated items to the baskets and host entry boxes in their locations. No purchase is required to enter, and entries must be made in-store between now and May 9, 2021. Winners will be drawn from collected entries the week following Mother’s Day.  A list of participating businesses can be found here at downtownboise.org. Items from the baskets will be highlighted on Instagram @downtownboise leading up to the drawing.

Supersized First Thursday - Traditionally, First Thursday is an opportunity for the community to visit Downtown Boise businesses to experience art, shopping, dining, and entertainment in a unique way. From May through September, First Thursday will be “supersized” and will include additional roving performances, music, and activation of The Grove Plaza. DBA will partner with performing arts and nonprofit organizations to create an enhanced experience for community members visiting Downtown between 5pm – 9pm on First Thursdays.

On Thursday, May 6th DBA will recognize Idaho Gives and the upcoming Boise Hawks season in addition to sponsoring performances from Ballet Idaho, The Phil, Boise Rock School, and Opera Idaho. The Boise Hawks organization and mascot Humphry will be on The Grove Plaza, along with three nonprofit organizations and Idaho Gives sponsor Idaho Central Credit Union. Additionally, participating businesses will host in-store promotions. Details for this and upcoming months can be found on the Supersized First Thursday event page at downtownboise.org. Anyone interested in performing at a future Supersized First Thursday can find the artist call here.
