COVID-19 Updates
Information on vaccinations for children 5 to 11 and booster doses
Children aged five to 11 are now eligible to book an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Read the Government of Ontario's news release for more information.

In case you missed it, the Government of Ontario also recently expanded eligibility for booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to additional groups of high-risk individuals. Specific groups are eligible if at least six months have passed since their last dose.

Eligible groups include health care workers and designated essential caregivers in congregate settings (including long-term care home and retirement home staff and designated caregivers).

  • To book your booster dose appointment, visit the COVID-19 vaccination portal
  • Or call the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre: 1-833-943-3900.

You can also book directly through public health units that use their own booking systems, through Indigenous-led vaccination clinics, select pharmacies, and primary care settings.

Hospital-based health care workers are encouraged to reach out to their hospital employer to get vaccinated directly through their hospital’s vaccination program.

Over the coming months, Ontario is also prepared to gradually roll out booster doses to all Ontarians aged 12 and over.
For up-to-date information about vaccinations and clinics in your region, visit the “Vaccine Information” section of our COVID-19 page to find your Public Health Unit.
Links to COVID-19 information and resources are in the College's dedicated COVID-19 section of the website. The latest updates are noted at the top of the page.

Please continue to check the College and government websites for the latest updates. You can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Mental Health & Wellness
Access support and resources for healthcare workers
The Government of Ontario is expanding mental health and addictions supports for health care workers. Health care workers from anywhere across Ontario can access services by going directly to a partner organization or via the Ontario Supports for People website.

Visit COVID-19: Support for People to find more information about many publicly available and confidential mental health and addictions services and supports.
Telerehabilitation Clinician Survey
Study by the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Manitoba
The College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CoRS) at the University of Manitoba is conducting a survey on telerehabilitation practice in Canada and they want your perspective.

The purpose of this survey is to get an overview of current telerehabilitation practice among rehabilitation clinicians and identify barriers and facilitators to telerehabilitation practice, including professional preparation.

Your feedback is anonymous and the survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Please note: the survey system will not let you save your survey responses to complete later.

If you have any questions about the survey or are interested in the study results, contact Ed Giesbrecht at ed.giesbrecht@umanitoba.ca.

Poll: Annual Report
November Poll Question and October Poll Results
Did you know: Every year the College submits a report to the Ministry of Health, which details activities, statistics and financial information.
Which part of the College’s Annual Report do you read first?
I read the professional snapshot.
I read the financial summary.
I read the year in review.
I read the program activities.
I read the list of Board and Committee members.
I don't read the Annual Report.

Last month we asked you: The College is considering combining the Self-Assessment and Professional Development Plan into one tool that is completed annually by registrants.

Do you feel this would be a positive change for you in your practice?

We received 470 responses: 81% selected "Yes" and 19% selected "No."

Thank you for your input on combining the Self-Assessment and Professional Development Plan. We are pleased to have your feedback and are planning to make this change so registrants can better connect their Self-Assessment with their professional development initiatives and can work through these over the year.

Stay tuned for the launch of the new tool in summer 2022!

We appreciate your feedback and welcome comments at any time.
Do you know someone who would like to be added to our mailing list?
They can sign up here. Have additional comments or suggestions for the College email news? Send your thoughts to communicatons@coto.org.
Any changes to your profile information in the last 30 days? Make sure you update your profile.
DO NOT UNSUBSCRIBE IF YOU ARE A REGISTRANT OF THE COLLEGE.

If registrants unsubscribe, they will be contacted to re-subscribe. The College communicates to occupational therapists by email regarding changes to standards, mandatory registration requirements, public consultations and more. We strive to keep communication relevant and to a minimum.
