Council chooses
public consultation
on election sign rules
| |
The matter regarding the banning of election signs was referred back to staff for further review and consideration at a meeting of Oakville Town Council, January 30.
This decision was made to ensure that all relevant information and perspectives are considered before a final decision is made along with feedback provided by delegates at the meeting.
Town Council has asked staff to consider alternative solutions that would address the concerns raised, while still allowing for political candidates and campaigns to communicate their messages effectively.
Some of the alternatives that will be considered include restricting the size and placement of signs, creating designated areas for signs, or providing alternative means of communication.
"Town Council is committed to finding a solution that balances the needs of all stakeholders and maintains the beauty and integrity of our community," Mayor Burton said.
