Resilient Georgia Resiliency Trends

Transforming Early Childhood Education

We are thrilled to share Resilient Georgia and the Center for Interrelational Science and Pediatrics recently launched the Infant and Early Childhood Professional Development Course and Guidebook. This initiative will support the early childhood care and education workforce (ECCE) and enhance social-emotional learning opportunities within early childhood settings. It's already having widespread impact.

  • Since course enrollment opened in August 2023, 131 staff from 35 centers have enrolled in the course, reaching 12 Georgia counties.

Plans are underway to sustain and expand this initiative to reach a greater number of Georgia counties. Go deeper.

Save the date: Our next General Meeting, "Food, Mood, and Mental Health," will take place April 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. RSVP here.

Thank you for connecting here, and please check out our donation page. We're on a mission to create a trauma informed, resilient Georgia. Join us!

Sincerely,

Emily Anne Vall, PhD, Executive Director & Audrey Idaikkadar, Regional Program Director

Building Resilience is a Lifelong Process

What's new: Growing up in large families with working parents, Mary Stuart and Joel Iverson learned the value of independence at an early age. 988 Resource Page Updates

What's new: The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) and the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) have expanded resources for individuals, organizations, and communities working to support the 988 rollout in Georgia.

Why it matters: New resources include materials in Spanish; resources focusing on the farming community and rural Georgia; and a new PSA from Georgia’s First Lady Marty Kemp about the importance of 988.

Making an Impact

What's new: Check out our 2022-2023 Impact Report demonstrating our shared work to build resiliency and a unified vision of a truly integrated behavioral health care system for Georgia.

Why it matters: With the help of our partners, we have been hard at work building capacity, creating a shared language, advocating for policy changes, leading training and education programs, and scaling our Regional Grantee Program. Our shared efforts have continued to build and strengthen innovative private/public partnerships, improve behavioral health in Georgia, and make Georgia a trauma-informed state for the sake of our children and families.

Closing thought: One thing is for certain in 2024 - we will remain laser focused on decreasing childhood adversity, building resilience, and breaking down behavioral health access barriers.
