John's Baby Steps 5K October 2nd
Hello everyone!
We are 1 short day away from our 12th John's Baby Steps event!
Packets have been stuffed and anyone who was registered by Thursday morning can pick them up at the Adel Public Library Friday between 9:00am-2:00pm.
You will also be able to pick them up Friday, October 1st from 4:00pm-6:00pm or Saturday morning from 7:00am to 8:00am at Kinnick-Feller Park.
You are still able to register up until 8:00am Saturday morning online! Your Bib numbers will be assigned automatically and you can pick them up at event registration.
5K participants, chip instructions for athletes:
Timing bib with chip should be worn on the front of the body and MUST be visible to the eye (not covered by a sweatshirt, jacket, etc..)
There will be kids activities, though we will take a break from them while we celebrate our Angels.
Please reach out is you have any questions prior to the event. We look forward to seeing you all Saturday morning!

UMC Holiday Nut Sale
The United Methodist Women are taking orders for nuts which will arrive in mid - November.
The nuts are all 1-1lb. Ziploc bags, except Pecan Clusters which are in 9 oz. boxes.

This popular fund-raising effort of the U.M.W. allows you a great opportunity to have quality nuts and fruits for all your holiday baking needs!
Notice: Nuts can be picked up at the Adel united Methodist Church - 115 S. 10th St. 9am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Saturday.

MIDF Mid-Iowa Development Funds Available
Mid-Iowa Development Funds Grant (MIDF) serves 7 counties and has been granted Cares Act funds to loan to businesses in the 7 county area.
Deb Bengtson with the Adel Partners Chamber is the Dallas County representative.for the Mid-Iowa Development Funds Grant Board.
Loan applications are reviewed by a committee of local development and private lender representation from each county.
The maximum loan is $125,000 and may be used for building acquisition, equipment, inventory, working capital and construction.0% interest rate for first 2 years then 2%for remaining 8 years.

October Events at the Adel Public Library
The air is crisp and the leaves and changing, fall is here!
Join us for a month of events and programs for all ages to enjoy.
All programming subject to change due to Covid and masks may be required for certain events.
Wednesday October 6th join us for coffee with author John Donovan at 11:00 am to discuss his book, “Fluffball! Or, How Five Really Tall Guys and an Immortal Chinese Philosopher Opened the Door to a Parallel Universe and Saved Professional Foam Basketball.”
Therapy Pets will be here with furry friends for a visit October 7 at 4:30pm.
Get creative with Mini Pumpkin decorating Thursday October 14 at 4:30 pm.
Get into the Halloween spirit and learn how to create some spooky balloon creatures with our Halloween Balloon Workshop, Thursday October 21 at 4:30 pm. Space is limited registration and masks are required. Visit www.adelpl.org to sign up.
Miss Paula is back with an outdoor Halloween story time. Meet her outside the library Thursday October 28 at 4:30 pm.
Early childhood programming continues with Storytime Tuesdays, Toddler Time Wednesdays and Discovery Time Thursdays. Join us at 10:30 am at Evans Park weather permitting.
The library now has 3 book clubs to choose from! Brown bag book club the second Thursday of each month at noon, Cook book club the third Wednesday of each month at 11:00 am and the Tween book club the fourth Tuesday of each month at 4:30 pm. Visit www.adelpl.org for title lists.
Yoga continues in October every Wednesday at 5:45 pm, space is limited and registration is required. Visit www.adelpl.org to sign up.
The library will be closed Monday October 11 in observance of Indigenous People’s Day.

Bible Explorers
Come explore the Bible through games and fun activities at Adel Public Library Community room.
Grades 3 & 4. 2nd Thursday beginning October 14th. 6-7:30pm
We will focus on: The 10 Commandments, The Lord’s Prayer, and Becoming familiar with the Bible. We may touch on Bible stories from Sunday School but this will not be a repeat.
The goal is to have fun and learn to get around in the Bible.
It is not necessary to RSVP to participate.
There is no charge.

Women’s Bible Study
Want a little different Women’s Bible Study or to participate in a purchased Study from a known speaker?
You are welcome to join us for Bible Study at the Adel Public Library’s community room.
Monday evenings 6-7:30 pm beginning October 4th.
This will be an open study – participants can decide to discuss Bible topics, books, ask questions, or participate in a Beth Moore or other speaker’s Bible Study.
It is not necessary to RSVP to participate.There is no charge.
