Thank you

for a wonderful VBS!

Nearly 60 kids filled the halls of DUMC with their singing, playing, praying and creating at our Food Truck Party VBS this past week!

Our awesome volunteers—over 30 of them—sang, played, prayed and created right along with the kids, while also taking tremendous care of them all. We couldn’t have done it all without the help of our awesome Youth Mission Trip Volunteers, who also helped to pull off a super-fun Food Truck Party Carnival!

We are so grateful for all of the children who participated, volunteers of all kinds and the beautiful DUMC-wide support for our VBS team! We can’t wait until next year (after we get a little rest)! God bless and have an awesome summer!

This year, instead of going on a typical mission trip where we travel to another city, stay there for a week, and work in that community, we opted to stay local and team up with our church’s Children’s Ministry program to help with their Vacation Bible School. We called it our 2022 Mission “Trip.” Along with helping out at VBS, we were also in charge of planning and running a carnival that took place on the last day of VBS. Our students did an incredible job, and we hope that the children in attendance at VBS learned more about, began a relationship with, and/or grew closer to Jesus!

Due to threats of rain, the bounce house was moved into the Worship and Youth Center. Click the image (below) to see a time lapse of the inflation!

Question of the Week

Copy of Copy of Question of the Week.jpg

One quick question....

Once a week....

Some for helpful information....

Some "just for fun"....

We'd like to know what you're thinking! Some questions may be intended to elicit helpful information. Other questions may be just for fun. We hope you'll participate! We'll tell you how it turned out next week.

We are blessed to have three wonderful worship services each week. The challenge is for people from each of the services to get to know one another. DUMC leaders are considering, once a year (only), planning a "one service Sunday" where we could all worship together as one body.

Would you be supportive of a one-service Sunday once a year?
Yes, I like that idea!
No, I prefer not to do that.
It doesn't really matter to me one way or the other

Results of last week's "QOTW"

Thanks to those who participated last week!

Lay Leader Insights:

Forgiveness

Many people sit in the self-imposed soup of bitterness. A past wrong remembered, hurtful words spoken or being left out of an event can injure our spirit. But unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

A Prayer in Response to Death

By W. David O. Taylor

O Wounded Christ, you who have gone to the monstrous depths and swallowed death whole, tasting its bitter finality and conquering it once for all, we pray that you would free us from the fear of death and comfort us in the losses that we experience on account of death, so that our hearts might be infused this day with your resurrection life. We pray this in the name of the One who is the Resurrection and the Life. Amen.
