KW Roatan are in!
After much due diligence and information gathering, we have just been approved as members of the Roatán REALTORS ® Association (RRA).
So, what exactly does that mean?
All of our agents are in the process of providing the pertinent documentation to the RRA to allow them to be full members of the RRA and make them part of the professional organization dedicated to providing the highest level of ethics and cooperation among its members. The admission requirements include membership of National Association of REALTORS ® (NAR) and agents must agree to abide by Standards of Practice and Ethics Codes, as well as the bylaws of CANABIRH (the Honduran National Real Estate Association). It also means that KW Roatan can list all our properties on the island’s Multiple Listing Service MLS database.
So how does this translate to our clients?
For our sellers: Now, as well as our sellers’ listings being showcased on multitude of international real estate websites, Keller Williams Realty International, AND KW Roatan website, our properties also get featured on the Roatan MLS reaching almost 100 member agents and brokers. This kind of exposure is invaluable to finding the right buyer for our clients’ property.
For our buyers: Our agents now have access to ALL the real estate available on the market (Utila and Guanaja as well) giving them a wider choice of potential options that meet their clients’ requirements. The month of January is throwing out a lot of “firsts” for KW Roatan. Although some of the team had met at the KW Roatan Christmas dinner held at Pristine Bay, this was the first time the sales force had gathered together by way of formal introduction to each other, team building and to define company and individual goals.
Then there was the first two days of comprehensive onboarding training for the agents, which included contracts they will encounter, and a real estate legal overview delivered by our in-house lawyer, Hilsy Villalobos. Seriously heavy material but throughout camaraderie was high and the meetings were laced with laughter and joviality – truly a bonding experience was had by all.
By the time the next core technology training sessions came, the vein of mutual respect and a feeling of family was interwoven with the sense of commitment and collaboration.
A happy and trained team is a productive team. KW knows that when your employees are content, they work harder and are more engaged. A positive work environment is also good for the bottom line – it reduces turnover and increases retention. But most important is the benefit to our clients – a seamless, one-stop-shop for all their real estate needs.

Since taking office in 2022, our mayor Ron McNab has pledged to improve the quality of life for the population of all the communities of the municipality of Roatan. This goal is taking many forms including ensuring that the access roads to many communities are made better. The idea behind this is to improve the living conditions of all residing in those areas, raise the added value of the communities and promote safer areas for all. Evidence that this pledge is being honored up and down the island is in the paving of the main entrance to towns large and small.
And the big one! The main highway between West End and the entrance to Mudhole Road is getting a complete overhaul. Not only a new surface or some holes filled in but a whole new, wider road. Although the old road was adequate, the number of vehicles on our roads have increased exponentially in just a few years and will continue to grow as the island continues to expand in population.
The work is scheduled to continue throughout 2023 and will cause disruption, frustration and delays – but no pain, no gain, right?
If the road is like the road leading from Mudhole to Dixon Cove then we will be looking at a spectacular heavenly highway.
