Community Revitalization Levy (CRL) Announcement
“The Airdrie Chamber of Commerce is thrilled that the province of Alberta has created a program to invest in the redevelopment and future growth of Airdrie’s downtown core. The revitalization of our downtown has been a priority of our city for years, and the Community Revitalization Levy will help our business community prosper and grow without adding additional tax burdens. This investment into Airdrie will not only boost our local economy with new jobs, but it will also add business investment into the heart of our growing city.”

~ Chris McNicol
Airdrie Chamber of Commerce President
Airdrie Fastest Growing City in Alberta
As of July 1, 2022, Alberta’s population stood at 4,543,111. This was 347,050 more than in 2016 for an increase of 8.3%.

About 71% of Albertans live in one of the province’s 16 cities, but these communities together accounted for 91% of the population growth between 2016 and 2022.

Airdrie posted the strongest growth over this period in percentage terms at +25.3% (+16,219 residents) while Calgary added the most people in absolute terms at +134,818 (+10.5%).

Cochrane was the fastest growing town in the province, adding 7,858 residents between 2016 and 2022 (+29.2%).

The trend toward more growth in Alberta’s more urban areas is expected to continue.

Policy Win: Direct action to lower EMS response times

Great news on a policy win for our network: Alberta’s government will be accepting all recommendations of both the Alberta Emergency Medical Services Provincial Advisory Committee report and the independent dispatch review and is working on a plan of action to carry them out.

These actions align with recommendations from our “Addressing Emergency Medical Service Resource Allocation Deficiencies” policy, sponsored by Okotoks, and co-sponsored by Airdrie and Brooks.
Improving Alberta’s response to public health emergencies

Premier Danielle Smith is establishing an expert panel to review the legislation and governance practices used by the Government of Alberta during the management of the COVID-19 public health emergency and to recommend changes necessary to improve government response to future health emergencies.

In reviewing applicable legislation and governance practices, the panel will consider and balance various factors in the overall context of a public health emergency, including:
• general public health and health information
• mental health and wellness
• child and student health, mental health and education
• health professionals’ practice standards
• effective implementation of emergency measures
• protection of rights and freedoms
• economic and financial effects
• employment standards

Member Spotlight
Koda Financials is a full range financial brokerage that specializes in taxes, bookkeeping, investments and insurances, and we have made it our mission to help educate people on how to organize their finances.

Starting in 2009 as TaxAdVise, they have become Airdrie’s tax preparer for both personal and small businesses taxes with their precise bookkeeping, maximum tax returns, and insurances; a one stop shop. There is a never wait time, and all taxes are done within 24 hours! With their clients wanting even more financial advice, in 2015 they started Koda Financial Architects, offering both insurance and investment services as well. By 2020, TaxAdVise and Koda Financial Architects merged into Koda Financials.

Their approach is simple, and they run as a “mom and pop shop”; they really know their clients and treat them like family. As their family, their focus is to guide and teach you how to keep your money in your pocket and get you on the right track to financial freedom.

Airdrie P.O.W.E.R. celebrates 2 years and needs your help

Airdrie P.O.W.E.R. is coming up on their 2 year anniversary of opening their Day Shelter facility! In that time they’ve been able to help over 100 women with resources, education, safety planning, legal clinics, and more.

Unfortunately, they are facing a significant funding shortfall for 2023. They need donors who believe in what Airdrie P.O.W.E.R. is doing, who believe that women and children deserve to live lives free of abuse, to donate funds to keep the Day Shelter running. We know that if the Airdrie community comes together to get behind this, that we can keep helping women and children for years to come.

Would you consider making a contribution to the only organization in our community solely focused on domestic abuse victims? Your support can be the difference in the lives of real women in Airdrie.

The button below is a sponsorship package that has many different options listed; please feel free to contact them if you don’t see an option that works for you, they are happy to discuss other options for support!
