From the Pastor's Desk
Grace and peace to you brothers and sisters in Christ!
Many thanks to all of you who led and participated in the Faith Ventures conversation last Sunday! The transition team is looking forward to reading your thoughts and ideas and growing into the stirrings of the Holy Spirit you shared. If you missed this past Sunday, its not too late! Find details in the transition team section below on how to participate.
Looking ahead to this Sunday, this Sunday is National Scouting Sunday.
Hutto Lutheran is blessed to have many partners in ministry from the community. For many years Cub Scout Pack 912 has been based out of Hutto Lutheran Church.
Pack 912 would like to give thanks for their partnership with HLC by joining us for worship this Sunday. We are grateful for our own scouts, Rose and Violet Duewer and Marie Stern, and their leadership as they share their faith this Sunday.
You are invited to join us as we worship the Lord and hear their witness of faith!
God’s peace,
Pastor Amanda

Water damage update: Just to recap the information shared at the Annual Meeting, the foundation leveling for the Narthex will start in the March-April timeframe. Until that is completed we cannot start the reconstruction phase, so in the meantime, to reach the Fellowship Hall and the functioning bathroom, it will be necessary to go outside to gain entrance through the doors. We are in the process of gathering bids for the reconstruction so work can begin immediately following the leveling. We are also getting roof bids & plumbing bids for the hot water pipes in the attic. That work can begin before the leveling starts. A special fund has been set-up to collect donations to address this major 2023 project. Please indicate “flood repair” on your contribution.
Stringed Instruments: If you are a stringed instrument player (any level from beginner to pro), we are forming an ensemble to add to the worship experience at Hutto Lutheran Church. We will be meeting for short rehearsal sessions directly after worship on the second Sundays of the month. We will focus on familiar songs with just a few chords and easy strum patterns as we start the group, and you don’t need to be able to read music. We are looking for fellowship with others interested in making a joyful noise unto the Lord! (We have a few ukuleles to loan out if anyone wants to give it a try.)
For more info call Trudy Simon at 512 554 5417 or email her here

HLC Cemetery corner: Did you know that the baseball field known as Holmstrom Field on Park St in Hutto is named for three brothers that are all buried at Hutto Lutheran Cemetery? They were amazing baseball players. Elgene “Buddy” was the pitcher, David played first base, and Carroll was the catcher. They were buried at HLC Cemetery in the years 2018, 2021, and 2022 respectively. Holmstrom Field was named in their honor on August 21, 2009. They were all present for the celebration.
Adult Education
We will be studying the book 'Making Sense of the Cross' for our Lent Adult Sunday School series. Beginning the first Sunday in Lent, February 26th. The books have been ordered and should be here by next week. New Member classes will take place during the Sunday School hour Feb 5th, 11th and 19th.
