Together, we are making a difference. This past year has been a rewarding journey of unwavering dedication and impactful accomplishments as we worked to educate our policymakers, legislators and the general public about the needs and goals of those individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our commitment to listening has been the cornerstone of our efforts, declaring that every voice – from families and self-advocates to service providers and community partners – is not just heard, but echoed profoundly. Help Us Grow! Now more than ever, it is essential to intersect statewide for the same cause. As we maintain our continued growth of chapters and various membership opportunities, we encourage those with similar voices to align with us in our advocacy. Our Community Partner Memberships were developed for local associations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, often at the grassroots level. It is these partners who have the lived experience and stories that truly make an impact when expressing the needs for the vulnerable population we serve. While we encourage their local independence, we welcome their knowledge and advocacy as we move forward with the issues we have in common – those service providers and families in addition to the Medicaid Waiver. We continue to schedule meetings regularly with legislators to update and educate them on The Arc of Florida and the population we serve. Those we have met are very supportive of our mission and our legislative platform which supports the Live Healthy Bill and the Governor’s budget. Our goal is to make sure that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are still a priority as we move forward.
