Farewell to City Manager Greg Wade

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter as the City of Solana Beach bids farewell to its dedicated City Manager, Greg Wade. On January 31st, Wade officially concluded his 8½ years of exemplary service, leaving a lasting legacy of leadership, dedication, and loyalty to our community.

We take a moment to express our sincere appreciation for Mr. Wade's contributions, which have greatly enriched the lives of the Solana Beach community. His tireless efforts and commitment have been instrumental in shaping the success of our city.

Mr. Wade is taking on a new position as the CEO of the Clean Energy Alliance. We wish him well in his next endeavor and are happy that he is still close by and serving the community in his new role.

A farewell reception was held on January 21st, where elected leaders, co-workers, former colleagues, family and friends gathered at City Hall to convey their goodbyes. Additionally, Greg received well-deserved recognition at the January 24th City Council meeting.

In the wake of this transition, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Assistant City Manager Dan King as Interim City Manager as the City Council embarks on its search for the next City Manager. We extend our best wishes to Mr. Wade for continued health and happiness in his future endeavors, and we look forward to the City’s continued success under Mr. King's capable leadership.

Safeguard Your Home During the Rain Storms

With the current weather forecast calling for strong winds and rain today and tomorrow, and with another storm forecasted next week, the City has once again made sandbags available to City residents. The prefilled sandbags are available in the City Hall parking lot. Since there are a limited number of sandbags available, the City is asking that residents take no more than 5 sandbags. As many residents take advantage of this free first-come-first-serve service, please know the City is working to constantly refill the sandbags as quickly as possible. Please prepare accordingly as the rain may be heavy and the winds will be strong at times.
