Construction Activities

Lane Channel

Contractors are continuing to demolish the Lane Channel along southbound SR-55 between Dyer Road and MacArthur Boulevard, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This work is expected to be completed in late May before crews reconstruct the new channel.

MacArthur Boulevard

Crews are expected to pour concrete and install falsework. Falsework is the temporary structure that is built to support the bridge while it is under construction.

Retaining Walls

Retaining wall construction continues along northbound and southbound SR-55. This work includes excavating, building forms, pouring concrete, and adding rebar for reinforcement.

Electric and Drainage

During daytime and nighttime hours, contractors continue to install or relocate electrical and drainage facilities along both directions of SR-55.

About the Project

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
