| Lauren Martin, our very own Administrative Assistant of 10 and a half years is retiring at the end of February! Lauren is the cheerful, kind, helpful face that writes your license plate on your pond sticker and helps you over the telephone. She may have even booked your birthday party or event at one of our properties. Come on in soon to wish Lauren a happy retirement! |

We hope that your new year is off to a fabulous start. We have been busy putting the finishing touches on our spring and summer programs so that most of them could be released with this newsletter. That is also the reason why this newsletter is coming out so far into the month! Note that youth program descriptions are listed first, and adult program descriptions are listed second.

CPR/First Aid/AED Classes for Teens & Young Adults | We are now offering these training courses for teens and young adults during February and April vacations. If you are an adult that would like to take a course, please contact the Peterborough Fire Department, as that department is handling adult classes. | | |

Baseball Preseaon Clinics | Peterborough Recreation Department will be offering youth clinics at Peterborough Elementary School. Participants will work on skills through a variety of drills to improve their game. Skills include catching, fielding, and throwing. There will be a few innings of wiffleball at the end of each session. The clinics provide an opportunity where kids can dust off their gloves, get moving, make friends, and have fun! | | |

All of the ConVal towns are part of "ConVal Cal Ripken," our local league. There will be T-ball, Rookies, Minors, and Majors. Peterborough Recreation is taking registrations for our town, Sharon, and Dublin. If you do not live in these three towns, please see our website for information on who to contact to sign up! The registration deadline is extremely firm, so register right away so you don't forget. The deadline is March 20th. | | |

Peterborough Youth Lacrosse participates in the New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association (NHYLA) which is a travel league. Teams are offered separately for boys and girls with the age groups listed on our website. | | |

Recreation (Local) Youth Lacrosse | Peterborough Recreation Department will be offering practices and scrimmages in small-sided groups on the fields at Adams Park. Participants will be working on developing fundamental skills through a variety of drills to improve their game. On weekends there will be a warm-up and then we will run small-sided, fast paced scrimmages. This is a program that should work well for both new players as well as experienced players needing to hone their fundamentals and prepare for middle school or high school lacrosse. We will make teams that will practice together and then scrimmage each other if we have enough players. | | |

Line dancing will inspire movement, fun, and creativity. Participants will learn basic steps, rhythms and routines choreographed to music. Music styles might include: pop, rock, blues, country, swing, Latin and Irish. | | |

SoccerTots with Skyhawks for Toddlers and Young Children | These soccer-themed motor skill classes are very easy for youngsters to get into. Younger age groups focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older classes focus more on developing core soccer skills and personal focus, and introduce an element of light competition. Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to maximize individual development, and above all else we promote fun, fun, fun! | | |

Spring Basketball with Skyhawks | This fun, skill-intensive program is designed for beginning to intermediate players. Using our progressive curriculum, we focus on the whole player - teaching sportsmanship and teamwork. Boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, ball handling, rebounding and defense through skill-based instruction and small-sided scrimmages. | | |

Spring & Summer Multi-Sport Camps for Toddlers and Kids with Skyhawks | This spring and summer we are offering a "Try It" multi-sport camp through a partnership with Skyhawks Sports Academy. We have multiple options, so be sure to read each description on the website carefully! | | |

The philosophy of Summer Teen Challenge (STC) is to challenge kids to think and act on issues that they will be confronted with as teenagers as well as to have FUN! The program activities help build self-esteem and encourage kids to work as a team. The program also exposes adolescents to real-life situations and problems they need to solve in a safe and supervised environment. | | |

The Playground Program offers children entering first through sixth grade a wide variety of enjoyable and challenging summer opportunities. Between enjoying nature, playing outdoor games, participating in arts and craft activities, and swimming in the pool, there are plenty of opportunities to keep the kids cool and happy during the hot summer months. The CIT program is a hands-on, interactive way for teens to learn job readiness skills and experience working with children. This experience will allow teens to walk away feeling prepared to hold a job, particularly a job as a Playground Program counselor at Peterborough Recreation. CIT will allow for opportunities to explore different careers, leadership, and to engage in meaningful conversations. A key part of this program is its hands-on component coupled with the opportunity to debrief and reflect with the instructor. Limited spots and application required. | | |

Tennis in the Parks - the tennis program where kids play while they learn! Led by an approved USTA Net Generation tennis coach, the program will focus on developing the skills to serve, rally, and play - so it’s perfect for beginners and first-time players. Once the skills are there, participants will play fun matches with other players in the program. This program uses modified tennis balls, age-appropriate rackets, court sizes, and the latest fun and engaging activities that help players successfully learn and play the game quicker! | | |

Nutrition & You: Learn the Facts! (50+) | This Q & A-style lecture series is all about choosing and educating yourself on healthy eating and aging. It is lead by a nutritionist. If you would like to attend, register below or call our senior program specialist Gloria so we know to expect you! | | |

Painting with Paula (50+) | Explore the the world of acrylic painting! In this hands on class Paula will walk participants through different brush techniques and ideas while instilling that each painter is unique in this supportive environment. Canvases, paint brushes, paint are included in this workshop. The painting to the left will be the subject for the first class! | | |

Led by a USTA-approved coach, participants will have fun and get great exercise while developing the skills to serve, rally, and play tennis. The program is perfect for first-time and beginner players, as well as returning novice players. All players in their first session receive and keep a new tennis racket! | | |

Futsal is like indoor soccer, with a denser ball and slightly different rules. What a great way to get some exercise during the winter months while socializing with a good group of guys. | | |

Please join in this adult/senior group exercise class in the spacious Community Center where Christine Hansen, PTA , will guide you through gentle warm ups, stretching, arm and leg strengthening as well as balance exercises. For some of the exercises you will be seated in a chair and progressing to standing with holding onto chair for support. Chris will integrate breathing, yoga and other types of exercises over the 6 week session. Bring a friend, meet new friends and start with a gentle exercise program to regain overall strength, balance and conditioning. | | |

Join this fun group of seniors every Monday afternoon at 1pm for an afternoon of cribbage at the Peterborough Community Center - year 'round! This is another great way to get out and socialize! Coffee is provided and you are welcome to bring a treat to share. If you do not know the game of cribbage, do not worry. There is someone in the group who would be happy to teach you. | | |

Spring Sport Coaching & Umpiring | We are looking for volunteer coaches for baseball and lacrosse as well as umpires for Cal Ripken. Umpiring is paid and most of the training is reimbursed.
