Second Sunday Brunch on May 14! | |
One of the prominent metaphors for the Church in the New Testament is that of a family. The Apostle Paul, writing to the Church at Ephesus, boldly proclaims that “you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God” (Ephesians 2:19). As members of Christ’s Church, we are more than fellow churchgoers; we are a family, brought together from many different places by God and bound together by God’s extravagant love for us. As a family, we have the privilege of growing together and caring for each other as we follow God. I’m sure we all have examples of figures (maybe Mulberry members) who have played an influential role in both our spiritual and personal development. In my life, I think of women like Pudge Smith, my grandmother’s best friend who has been a constant support for me on my faith journey, or Jeanne Andrews, a senior adult from my home church who was a supremely devoted volunteer for our youth program.
In two Sundays, we will celebrate all the women in our church who have supported us by providing care, guidance, and mentorship on our own faith journeys. Given that the second Sunday is Mother’s Day, we are inviting the church to join us for a “Second Sunday Brunch.” Bring your best casserole or breakfast dish and join us in the fellowship hall at 9:30 before Sunday School for a time of socializing and celebrating the wonderful women of our church! Then, at 10:00, you’re welcome to bring a second plate to your Sunday school class! We hope you’ll make plans to join us for this special celebration!
