Roslyn Public Schools

SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

March 2, 2022

Dear Roslyn Families,

Yesterday evening, the District received supplemental information from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) regarding new guidance for public schools. For your convenience, key bullet points are included below:

  • NYSDOH removed the statewide requirement for universal masking in schools and on school buses/vans. Masks are now optional.
  • NYSDOH requires all students, staff and teachers who are recovering from COVID-19 to wear masks upon return from isolation during days 6 through 10.
  • NYSDOH is recommending that all school districts continue their contact tracing protocols and notification process.
  • NYSDOH strongly recommends masking, regardless of vaccination status, for 10 days after a known exposure.

Our practice of guiding families through the isolation protocols, should their child test positive, will continue. At no time will COVID-19 testing of students be conducted by school personnel. The District will continue to distribute test kits for home use as long as supplies last. If you are in need of one, please call the main office of your child’s school to schedule a pick up time. Click here for an easy to understand flowchart describing updated Isolation and Exposure Protocols for Students.

I want to thank our parents for preparing their children for this day. As I traveled the District this morning, it was a joy to see how respectful our students behaved toward one another.

We’ve got this!

Sincerely,

Allison Brown
