St. Louis Catholic School Newsletter

December 15, 2022

Dear St. Louis Families,

This third week of Advent has truly been blessed with joy. We have had the joy of celebrating the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe with a school-wide prayerful rosary and the sounds of a Mariachi band. We joyfully heard the telling of Christ’s birth through our Lessons and Carols as presented by our K-5 students—know that we were impressed by the attendance of so many school families. That alone was a gift to see so many families and to be able to join in singing Joy to the World together, a great beginning to the Christmas season. Tomorrow, students will joyously wear Christmas colors, t-shirts, and/or ugly sweaters. Please don’t forget that it is a “tag day” where students bring in $2 which will benefit the work of Catholic Charities in our community.

Next week is a short one of just two days. Students may wear Christmas socks with their regular uniform on Monday and on Tuesday students may come to school out of uniform wearing Christmas pajamas or ugly sweaters for the older students if they choose not to wear pjs for our annual Polar Express Day. I have heard that one of Santa’s elves may swing by for a quick last-minute visit. All around St. Louis the sounds and sights of Christmas are abounding. We are grateful for the generosity of our community during this time of year—the Christmas spirit of giving is clear with the number of pajamas donated in our collection boxes.

While the Christmas spirit may come in many forms, the source of our Christmas remains the same. Jesus is the reason for the season, something even our littlest learners know—Fr. O’Hare reminded the students of this in our Advent prayer service. As you finish preparing for all that the Christmas season means in your homes—the baking, the wrapping, the celebration of family traditions---remember that the coming of Jesus offers a message of love, of hope and peace to everyone but most especially to those who are enduring some challenge and hardship. May we be the strength for those enduring some hardship, the heart of love and peace.

Our break begins at the end of the day Tuesday. I wish each of you a happy and holy Christmas as you celebrate the wonders of His love.

God bless,

Anne Dyke

Principal

Please note, this will be the last newsletter of 2022. The weekly newsletter will resume on January 5, 2023.

School Announcements

Parents and Guardians,

As we are quickly approaching Christmas break, please be mindful of certain illness and keep your student home if they are sick. Illnesses such as strep throat do not always present the same in children. Often children with strep may not report sore throat, instead they may say they have a headache or a stomachache. If strep is not treated it will cause severe complications. We are seeing COVID, flu, strep, and other viral illnesses. It is impossible to stop all the spread of illnesses in a school setting, but if we continue to work together as a community, we may be able to stop certain outbreaks of illness.

I appreciate all your support. I hope all of you enjoy a blessed Christmas and that you remain healthy and safe.

Blessings,

Megan Aguilar, BSN, RN
