St. George's Distinguished Graduate: Jake Cavana

We are proud to announce Jake Cavana as this year's Distinguished Graduate. Jake will be honored at the Catholic Schools Week Distinguished Graduates Dinner on Monday, January 30th.

Jake is a 2013 graduate of St. George School but has truly never left St. George. Since graduation Jake has continued to be involved at both St. George school and church. Jake is most active in the athletic program serving as a basketball, volleyball, and swim coach, running the concession stands, planning and announcing tournaments, managing the gym nightly, and conducting tryouts for multiple sports. He can also be found playing the piano at mass or singing in the church choir on the weekends. Jake has served on the fair committee for many years and is credited with starting the haunted house and the Dragon Shootout. When he is not helping at St. George, Jake is working at his own management consulting company, Cavana Consulting LLC. Congratulations Jake!

Congratulations to Talyn Horzelski, Shriya Reddy, and Kate Saunders who have been selected as finalists for this recognition. They will be honored at a special breakfast on Friday, January 27.

Enrollment for the 2023-24 school year

Friday, January 27 - Friday, February 3

Information regarding enrollment of current students will be communicated in an email to parents on tomorrow, Friday, January 27th.

Enrollment Timeline:

• January 27, 2023 – February 3, 2023: Enrollment for current and new students must be completed online and submitted with the non-refundable $120.00 enrollment fee. 

• Late enrollment begins after midnight on February 4, 2023 and ends at 11:59 pm on February 10, 2023. Late enrollment for current students must be completed online and submitted with the non-refundable $175.00 late enrollment fee. 



• Any current student that has not been enrolled by 11:59 pm, on February 10, 2023, will be withdrawn for the 2023-2024 school year.

January Stewardship Project

Catholic Charities - Linens

Please Donate by Tuesday, January 31

Our January stewardship project, in coordination with the catholic schools in our diocese, is to collect new linens for Catholic Charities.

Each year during the Catholic Schools Weeks Liturgy, the donated supplies are presented to Catholic Charities.

Examples of linen items needed are: linens, gift cards, all size sheets & blankets, pillows, towel sets, shower curtains and rings, rugs, etc. Thank you for your generosity and support.

Boys Basketball:

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

February 13 - 17, 2023

Students who wish to participate may show appreciation for their teachers in the following ways. This is voluntary and not mandatory. 

• Monday - Give your teacher a quarter (the Coke machine in the lounge is 50 cents)
• Tuesday - Special Teacher’s Day: bring a small surprise to the art, computer, Spanish, guidance, music, library, PE or religion teacher that your child has that day
• Wednesday - Give your teacher a favorite snack or fruit
• Thursday - Give your teacher a recipe, note, card, and/or prayer
• Friday - Give your teacher a school supply

*Teachers’ “favorites” were provided from the room moms at the beginning of the school year*

Call for Door Prizes for Teacher Appreciation Week

The Home and School Special Events Committee is accepting donations to be given out during the sit-down luncheon on Thursday, February 16. If you would like to donate an item or make a cash donation (nothing is too big or too small), please send items to the office with your name on it by Friday, February 10th. You may contact Marianne Faucheaux with any questions - 225.281.9878. All individuals and businesses will be recognized for donating in Dragon Tales the week following teacher appreciation week. 

The Catholic High School Cheerleaders will be hosting cheerleader clinics on Sunday, March 6 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. The clinics are open to all girls in first through fifth grades. The cost to attend a clinic is $25 per girl and includes a t-shirt and snack.
