Arapahoe County Dates and Deadlines Document
In order to keep our 4-H families and volunteers informed on 4-H dates and deadlines, the 4-H team has created a document containing an updated list of county-wide dates and deadlines for the 4-H year. This document will be continuously updated and a link will be included in the newsletters and on the Arapahoe County 4-H Member Resources webpage. Click on the image to the left to view the document.

4-H Foundation IVY Award Applications Being Accepted
The Arapahoe County 4-H Foundation is now accepting applications for their IVY (Important Volunteer of the Year) award. Click on the image to the right to access the application. The application is a fillable pdf. You can type directly in the application or you can print it out and complete it by hand. Instructions on where to send your completed application are listed on the application. All applications are due to Kathy McDaniel by 3/1/24.

Please register for our LAST Mandatory Information Night for Dog Members, TUESDAY, APRIL 23, AT 6 PM at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. Email Shaylen if you plan to attend by clicking on the image to the right. The Companion Animal Committee looks forward to meeting with dog members and families.

Please remember that members need to be 8 and older as of December 31 to enroll in animal projects. The deadline to submit your animal ID info is Saturday, May 1. Arapahoe County 4-H Shooting Sports Safety Training – February 3 & February 24
There are two dates scheduled for the mandatory Safety Meeting. It will be held in the east wing of the fairgrounds, prior to the indoor practice. You MUST attend one: Feb 3, 1 p.m. or February 24, 1 p.m.

Are you interested in becoming a 4-H Certified Shooting Sports Leader? The Arapahoe County 4-H Shooting Sports Project is in need of additional volunteers to help support the growing program! We are trying to offer more practices, events, and other activities but need dedicated volunteers who are willing to get involved. This is an incredible opportunity to support a rapidly growing project in the Arapahoe County 4-H Program. This includes trainings, coaching, and developing connections with other leaders from across the state! 4-H volunteers must be approved, enrolled and active in 4HOnline prior to registering for the trainings. Background checks are 2-4 weeks behind. Do not delay the volunteer enrollment or re-enrollment process.

FYI Livestock Families!
The Fair Planning Committee wanted to give you all a heads up that, due to increased costs, the Drug Test/Retinal Scan fees this year will be $10 per animal instead of $7 per animal like last year.

Arapahoe County 4-H MQA – February 3
The Meat Quality Assurance Program is a requirement for our county fair. All new livestock members and members that aged up as of 12/31/2023 (aged up youth are those in their first year as an intermediate, age 11, or first year as a senior, age 14) are required to attend a MQA training.
Our first MQA will be offered on Saturday, February 3 (10:00 AM) at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. Email Hannah Henderson to RSVP.

Regional Creative Cooks Contest
The Regional Creative Cooks Contest will be held on Saturday, February 24 at Adams County Regional Park in Henderson.
The Creative Cooks contest is a fun contest where you can learn more about and be creative with meal planning. You select a theme, prepare food and create a table setting around your chosen theme. In this contest you use your knowledge of nutrition, meal planning, and food preparation in a creative way The Front Range Regional 4-H Creative Cooks Contest is open to any 4-H member, between the ages of 5 and 18, who enjoy cooking. Members must be enrolled in 4-H in one of the following counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer or Weld. Members can participate as an individual, team or club.

In order to offset the cost of this contest, there is a $6 entry fee per person.

Colorado 4-H Scholarship applications are NOW OPEN!
There are opportunities available for a variety of students, including for those attending CSU or other universities, trade school, junior colleges, transfer students, and continuing students.
