L.A. River Master Plan Approved
Article courtesy of Urbanize LA

After six years, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted yesterday to adopt a master plan for the full 51 miles of the L.A. River, formalizing yet another framework for the development of urban trails and parks along the largely concrete-encased waterway. In anticipation of the new investment that may result from the plan, officials are now exploring steps to blunt the impacts of gentrification along the river corridor.
In a unanimous vote, the Board of Supervisors have requested a report within 60 days on what steps are needed to establish a land bank pilot program for Los Angeles County, with a focus on communities located along the L.A. River.
Stop the Clock events continue...

The art installation was partially funded by the AVNC. More info at stoptheclock.info.

Train Noise Update
After diving deep into the details of why and when trains must use their horns, we have officially requested action to reduce noise pollution in Atwater Village. This would not have happened without our stakeholders letting us know there was a pressing issue!

Mortgage Relief Program
In December 2021, the State launched the California Mortgage Relief Program to provide assistance to homeowners who fell behind on their housing payments due to financial hardships they experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is funded by the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act’s Homeowner Assistance Fund and administered by the California Housing Finance Agency Homeowner Relief Corporation. The California Mortgage Relief Program is expanding to help homeowners who may be current on their mortgage payments but are delinquent on property tax payments. Eligible homeowners could receive up to $20,000 to cover past-due property tax payments. There is no cost to apply, and the funds never have to be paid back.
