Interfaith Blessing Highlights the Generosity of Anatomical Donors

Before first-year medical students began their highly anticipated first day of anatomy lab, they paused for an interfaith blessing to reflect on the generosity of the anatomical donors who offered their bodies to further the students’ medical education.

For 44 consecutive hours (minus a few breaks) during this year’s Washington, D.C. Auto Show, Team Georgetown Lombardi stayed in physical contact with a 2024 Hyundai IONIQ6, motivated by a shot at being the one to drive it home and by the opportunity to raise awareness for pediatric cancer research.

Submit Nominations for the GUMC Staff Community Award

Gold Star

The GUMC Staff Community Award honors colleagues who show positivity, perseverance and resilience in their work, and go above and beyond on behalf of our community. Nominations may be submitted by students, staff, administrators or faculty members, and the awardees will be chosen by the GUMC/Staff AAP Caucus Committee and select others. 


Up to two awardees will be selected each quarter to receive a $1,250 cash award. Learn more about the award and submit nominations here by 5:00 p.m. on February 16.

Registration for BellRinger 2024 Is Now Open

Bellringer 24 Registration is now open

Hearty thanks to all who participated in BellRinger in 2023! Through your efforts, we raised a total of $1,413,159 in support of cancer research at Georgetown Lombardi. It’s now time to turn our sights toward BellRinger 2024, which will take place October 25-26. Registration officially opened on Friday. We hope to see everyone who rode last year again, plus some new faces to join in the fun. As a head start, you can enter registration code LOMBARDI2024 when you sign up, which will waive the $100 registration fee. Register now.

Tumor Biology Student Receives ARCS Foundation Scholar Award

Zoe Malchiodi (G’24), a doctoral candidate in tumor biology, received a $15,000 Scholar Award from the Metropolitan Washington chapter of the ARCS Foundation, Inc. The foundation advances science and technology by providing financial support for academically outstanding students.
