Child Development Council has Funds to Help Essential Workers with Child Care Expenses
The Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (the “CARES Act”) has provided New York with $20 million in child care scholarships for children of essential workers. This newest round of scholarships will run through December 31, 2020 or until funds are depleted.
New York State’s continued funding will ensure that the workforce that is needed to protect and care for the public during this ongoing pandemic have the child care they need. This scholarship will be administered through Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies. CCR&Rs are the child care experts and the conduit to accessing child care in New York State. The Child Development Council is the CCR&R for Cortland and Tompkins Counties.
