Don't Give Me That Attitude!
|
|
How many times have you caught yourself about to say this to someone? Often one of your family members - child or adult!
Our success or failure is frequently dependent on attitude. Of all the things affecting our lives every day, one of the only things we can control is attitude.
The wrong attitude can turn opportunities into failure. The right attitude can turn challenges into opportunities, and opportunities into success. Attitude can provide solutions which can result in success.
In the challenging COVID-19 days ahead let’s focus on community solutions with renewed energy gained by an attitude adjustment - successful solutions are within our reach.
Yes we CAN! - together - ENSEMBLE.

Point Pelee National Park Dark Sky Nights
|
|
Point Pelee National Park is designated as a Dark Sky Preserve by the Windsor Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
What does it mean to be a Dark Sky Preserve? It means that the Point Pelee National Park Dark Sky Preserve is one of the best places to explore the night sky in Canada. One can think of a dark sky preserve as an astronomy park where the night sky glows with millions of stars visible to the naked eye. The darkest nights happen during the new moon, when the moon isn't visible in our sky.
The park will be open until midnight for the best stargazing experiences. Bring your binoculars or a telescope!
Dark sky viewing tips:
- Check the weather before heading out.
- Take along a star chart or download a star gazing app, and a pair of binoculars, or telescope.
- Use red cellophane over your flashlight. Red light is less obtrusive than traditional white light, and helps to retain your night vision.
- West Beach and the Visitor Centre parking lot are the best car-accessible stargazing locations.
- Entrance fees apply.

Coffee Filter Heart Wreath

How to Make a Coffee Filter Heart Wreath
Supplies
- Coffee filters
- Red acrylic craft paint (The red paint makes gorgeous light pink flowers. The colour will dilute.)
- Plastic container
- Water
- Heart shaped wreath
How to Dye Coffee Filters
- Add paint and 1-2 inches of water into the container and stir.
- Add 10 coffee filters at a time into the container. Submerge them in the paint water solution.
- Lay them on a cookie sheet between two (or more) paper towels and squeeze as much water out as you can.
- Line the cookie sheet with some parchment paper.
- Lay several piles of filters on you parchment covered cookie sheet.
- Bake them in a 250 degree oven for about 20 minutes.
- Check them often so they don’t burn.
How to Make Coffee Filter Flowers
- Iron your filters. If you want a crumply looking flower, skip this step.
- Take two filters and put a dot of glue right in the centre so they stick together.
- Starting from the inside, draw a swirl (pictured below).
- Cut that swirl.
|
|
Making the Flowers
- First, bend the end so you have a little tail. This makes it easier to get the flower started.
- Next, start rolling your flower. Rolling it loosely makes the flower prettier. Roll it loosely and don’t let go.
|
|
- Turn the flower upside-down and hot glue it. Get it in between some of the layers and everywhere you can, and stick the little round circle end on top of the glue and gently smoosh it down.
- And there you have it! Your super-gorgeous coffee filter flower.
|
|
- Use the flowers you made and glue them around the wreath form.
