Chart your Path for 2023
If you are a person who sets resolutions, you may already have set some aside; after the last few years with everything that has happened, you may have decided that taking small steps rather than charting big plans is less stressful and allows you to see more progress. The beginning of the year for me revolved around a few key thoughts. (Read more)

Educators Thrive Together, February 2023
Part of being a place where faculty and academic staff feel they can create fulfilling and successful careers means being able to engage in activities and opportunities that increase a sense of belonging and potential. It also means providing the kind of support and understanding of the ways in which one is evaluated and how to advance in the bureaucratic systems that all large universities have in place. In both areas, OFASD strives to be a source of opportunities. The “Thrive Series,” offered on Wednesday mornings throughout the month of February, is an example of time to come together to learn more about what it means to move forward as an educator at MSU.

Dustin Petty

Bailey Scholars Program

"Dustin volunteered with very little notice to speak with a small group of graduate students who expressed interest in educator development and interdisciplinarity. With very little guidance, Dustin shared a descriptive and engaging overview of the Bailey Scholars Program in addition to his experience as both a learner and educator. The one-word check-ins from the start of the meeting to the end of the meeting shifted from generally negative connotations (e.g. "run-down", "sticky") to positive ("energized", "reflective", "refreshed", "enlivened"). One participant even said, "Dustin came to us so authentically-- with out any mask-- I appreciated that greatly. It spoke to my heart". From centering students and their knowledge, to facilitating learning communities and investing in his own growth; Dustin is a gem that deserves the highest praise!" | | | | | | | |
