What’s New in Neurology Education Scholarship: A look back at must read articles from Neurology: Education that are influencing training today

Dr. Strowd is associate professor of neurology and neuro-oncology and vice dean for undergraduate medical education at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is a passionate educator and dedicated education research scholar. His mission is to inspire each student to find their passion and pursue it. His current education research work focuses on microlearning, leadership and professional identity formation, and career development of clinical educators. While at Wake Forest, he has co-directed the Health Professions Education Institute which leads faculty development in education scholarship for clinician educators and served as course director for the Transitions to Residency course, Medicine and Patients in Society course, and previously served as Assistant Dean for Education and Scholarship. Nationally, he is chair of the eLearning subcommittee for the American Academy of Neurology, former CPD Chair for the AAMC’s Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA), and current chair-elect for the SGEA. His teaching awards include recognition with the SGEA Innovation in Education Award in 2019 and the inaugural AAMC M. Brownell Anderson Award in 2020. He is a thoughtful, data-driven innovator who thrives when discovering new things. He is the inaugural editor for Neurology’s newest journal, Neurology: Education, and board member for the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. When not seeing patients or mentoring trainees or colleagues, he is usually found coaching soccer for one of his three kids, traveling with his wife, or walking his golden retriever around the block.
