The Washington State Legislature started the 2023 session on January 9 and as of Friday January 20th, there have been over 800 bills introduced. It is estimated that only 15% of the bills will become law.

Our challenge is trying to keep track of these bills and identifying one that may be of concern to local businesses. To do that we rely on our partners from the AWB, WRA, and WHA to keep us informed.

Most of the bills have until February 17th to be reviewed and passed out of committee. There are currently about 75 bills on the watch list and that number will change as the session goes on.

You can check out the bill watch list on our website. We also offer contact information for our local legislators.

The objective of the South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce is to inform and educate our members on legislation that may affect their businesses.

Most bills will affect us all one way or another, but we try and focus on those dealing with business.

If you are aware of a particular bill that you would like us to follow please let us know.
