Women's Leadership Happy Hour
November 15, 2021 4:00 - 6:00pm
Join us for a happy hour celebrating the Central Maryland Chamber’s (CMC) newest initiative, the Women’s Leadership Roundtable (WLR)! Meet & network with other Executive & Director-level female leaders over refreshments provided by Turf Valley Resort while learning more about the program. Although this event is to launch CMC’s Women’s Leadership Round Table, all are welcome to join us!

An exclusive CMC member benefit – the CMC’s Women’s Leadership Roundtable is an inclusive group of Executive and Director -level female leaders focused on connecting business professionals throughout Central Maryland. Similar to the CMC’s CEO Roundtable- the group will share challenges and new ideas and discuss ways to take their business to the next level. The WLR provides a venue for women to meet monthly with their peers in an atmosphere that fosters entrepreneurial thinking and encourages individuals in accomplishing their goals. The roundtable is designed to provide participants with their own confidential "board of advisors" who can assist with business challenges by presenting solutions for discussion.
Eleven Anne Arundel County Business Owners Graduate from AAEDC Inclusive Ventures Program
Including CMC Member, Shay Cook of Crusaders for Change, LLC
Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman joined Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Kelly M. Schulz and City of Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley in surprising the second cohort of AAEDC’s Inclusive Ventures Program (IVP) with congratulatory videos at the group’s graduation and pitch day on Wednesday, October 27, during Maryland Economic Development Week.

Introduced by AAEDC in January 2021, IVP aims to help small and minority-, women-, and Veteran-owned businesses in Anne Arundel County succeed and grow by providing their owners with the resources that early-stage entrepreneurs so often lack: business education and training, access to capital, and mentorship.

“It’s so important for us to promote and encourage small and minority-owned businesses in this county,” said Pittman. “Their success and growth is key to creating intergenerational wealth, and IVP is a tremendous program that provides business owners with the training and resources that can help make that happen.”

Diversity And Inclusion In The Workplace
When we think of diversity and inclusion today, we can quickly default to framing the discussion around race and gender. However, diversity applies to all manner of individual and group differences that are often ignored or misunderstood when we confine the issue to race or gender.

As evidence mounts in favor of hiring autistic individuals for their unique perspective and specific skill sets, employers need strategies for attracting, onboarding, and retaining these individuals if they want to remain competitive
