February 2022
Hello Fabulous February and RSPA Family,

As we roll into 2022, I am elated to serve you and your scholars in my 3rd month as Interim Principal here at Northshore. We have many things planned for this month.

Let's first start by celebrating Black History. We will embrace our history every day this month during announcements and end with a small celebration. Be sure and ask your scholars whom they learn about each day.

Quality Instruction is our daily focus. I want to ensure that our scholars' academic needs are met with rigorous and engaging lessons. Our staff is working diligently to make sure this happens. Your weekly emails inform you about what your scholars are learning; please reiterate the importance of doing homework and getting in additional practice at home. Our STEM lab is underway, and scholars rotate in weekly to explore Science and Technology in the lab.

Biztown and the Bayou Wildlife Zoo are the first of our Field Experiences. Our scholars are in for some real-life excitement that connects to the classroom curriculum. We are looking for volunteers, so please let us know if you are interested!

Love is in the "cool" air, and I want our staff and scholars to relax and unwind during Mid-winter break and take time to enjoy family and friends.

Parents, please make sure that your scholar is getting plenty of rest this month as they tackle many assessments and class projects. Also, please speak with your child about being on their best behavior and making good choices. Positive behavior goes a long way socially and academically.

My goal is to reach every child, every day, 100% of the time.

My door is always open. Please stop by and say Hello!

Parent Reminders

Testing Tibits:
Parents, we are approaching the testing season and we want to ensure all of our scholars are well prepared. Here are some testing tips:

  1. Get enough sleep the night before the test.
  2. Prepare for the test by studying over your notes from class.
  3. Take your time and read your test carefully.
  4. Always give a 100% on the test.

Tutorials:
We have after-school tutorials Monday - Thursday from 3:45- 4:45 for 3rd -6th grade. This is a great way for your scholar to receive help in Math and Reading. If you want your scholar to attend, please email Mrs. Akers: sakers@rhodesschool.org.
Nurse’s Notes:
Parents, immunizations must be up-to-date (or a current affidavit must be on file to exempt a student from receiving immunizations) for a student to remain enrolled in school.
Also, if your child has to borrow a school uniform, please return them back to the school.

Parent Pick-Up & Drop-Off Times:
Morning drop-off time is at 7:15a and early pick-up ends at 2:50p daily. If you need early drop-off or late pick-up, Crayon Club (6:00a-6:00p) is available for a fee. Thank you for your strict adherence to this policy.

Attendance:
Please make sure that your child attends school daily. It is imperative to their academic success and growth in school. Just as a reminder: students who miss 10 or more school days, may receive an attendance behavior contract and could be subject to compulsory attendance laws. Also, 3 tardies are equivalent to one absence.

Intent to Return:
Parents, please check your emails and complete your intent to return.
