Northern Delaware Greenway Trail Wayfinding Survey Participation
Delaware Greenways would like to thank all of the participants in the REI Wayfinding Survey! We had over 200 responses from over 20 different zip codes in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey.

The information captured as part of the survey will be incorporated into the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail Wayfinding Plan over the next few weeks. Be on the lookout for more information as the draft plan is completed!

FTND Coalition Trail Amenity Grant Projects Installed
Last March, the Future Trails of Northern Delaware Coalition selected three trail amenity projects submitted by coalition members, to receive grant funding provided by the William Penn Foundation.

Bike Newark has installed signage for the North Bikeway (Delaware Ave to Wedgewood Road via Pomeroy Trail and Creek Road) and Northwest Bikeway (Creek Road to Nottingham Road via Pomeroy Trail and Pomeroy Connector Trail and County Club Drive), that will help guide non-motorized travel on those routes.

Signage for the West Bikeways (Orchard Road to Casho Mill Road via Dallam Road and Lafayette Road) was also produced, but the City of Newark is holding off on those installations until a park project, through which the route passes, is completed.
Delaware Center for Horticulture (DCH) – For their trail amenity project, the DCH will be installing (4) bike racks, (1) fix-it station and bike repair sign.

These amenities are intended to provide security, assistance and guidance for visitors to the gardens and surrounding area. These additions will also encourage travel to neighboring trails and pathways. With bike racks available, utilizing space and trees along the trail beltway won't be necessary, preserving the natural beauty alongside the paths.  Installation of these helpful amenities will occur when garden renovations are completed.
Riverfront Development Corporation (RDC) has installed (5) trash cans and a bike fix-it station along the Wilmington Riverfront. With an average of 240,000 pedestrian counts at the trail counter locations this year, the trash cans are a much needed amenity allowing RDC to maintain a cleaner Riverwalk for its users.

The fix-it station is a welcome sight for broken-down bicyclists in need of its tools!  To complete the project, (2) bike racks that are currently on backorder, will be installed, helping bicyclists secure their bikes while enjoying the riverfront.

Bancroft Mills Pedestrian Bridge Update
In case you missed our last email, we've got the latest developments on the Bancroft Mills Pedestrian Bridge, on our website.

There's still a lot to be discovered by engineers about the structural damage, but thanks to conversations with Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Delaware State Parks, we're learning about potential repair/replace options for this important connection to the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail and Alapocas Run State Park.
