For decades, EPG’s SurePump Sump Drainers have withstood the harshest of liquids found in landfills and industrial applications thanks to standard 304SS construction and optional 316SS designs. Occasionally even the most resilient materials as those succumb to extremely corrosive environments.
One solution? Sacrificial Anodes.
Sacrificial Anodes are often relied upon to protect water heaters, liquid distribution, storage tanks, and most commonly seen on boat & ship hulls. Comprised of zinc, magnesium, and aluminum they come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
How does a Sacrificial Anode protect a landfill pump?
Under specific conditions, corrosion can be diverted to a more preferential material, thus “sacrificing” that material and preserving the other materials. This approach can extend the life of equipment and save you money.
Pictured here is a zinc, ball-style Sacrificial Anode installed on the inlet end of an EPG VSD Sump Drainer.

The metal used to make this anode has properties that make it more likely to attract any corrosion, sparing the stainless steel screen and tubing. This design, like most, allows for replacement of the anode once it's depleted.
Speak with your EPG representative to find out if a low-cost solution incorporating a sacrificial anode is right for you.

Practical Topics & Discussion
Learn why you need a good ground and how to achieve it. Understand the impact landfill gas can have on operations & equipment integrity and how to mitigate those effects. You'll also have an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with your peers!
Live control panels allow you to program level & flow meters and install & troubleshoot components. You will also tear down and rebuild electric and pneumatic pumps to help you gain an advantage when performing your duties in the field.
For more than 20 years, EPG has served over 500 attendees in a small group setting. Our education and training classes are suitable for those involved with the design, maintenance, and/or installation of Liquid or Gas Handling Systems.
