PROPOSED CITY CUTS TO NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS WILL DRAMATICALLY IMPACT CIDNA’S ABILITY TO OPERATE

The city of Minneapolis is proposing to cut base funding for CIDNA – and all neighborhood associations - to just $10,000 next year. This will cut CIDNA’s operating budget in half. After City mandated expenses, CIDNA would be left with an operating budget of a little more than $5,000 for 2023. This means a likely elimination of all family programming and local events hosted by CIDNA, including the Fall Festival, and ongoing advocacy on behalf of our neighbors on SWLRT and other issues throughout the year. We urgently need your help!

Make your voice heard: Let Lisa Goodman know you oppose the City’s drastic budget cuts for neighborhood associations ahead of the City Council’s budget meeting on December 6.

Donate and Support CIDNA Today – We need to quickly raise $7,500 by the end of the year to ensure we will have the appropriate level of funding to be able to operate in the new year. Donate today via Venmo (@CIDNA) or by sending a check to CIDNA at PO Box 16270, Minneapolis, MN 55416.

SWLRT Rail Safety Meeting

TODAY: Thursday, December 1, 6:30 - 8 pm

The City of Minneapolis will host a meeting about SWLRT construction safety. The project adds 14.5 miles to the existing METRO Green Line. Attendees will get information from the Southwest Light Rail Transit Project Office and Twin Cities & Western Railroad. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A period.

By state law, this meeting is held annually while construction is occurring in the corridor.

New online tool tracks MPRB snow removal on park trails and sidewalks

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is sharing its new Trail Plowing Status map. When snowfalls accumulate to two inches or more, the online tool shows real-time plowing activity from MPRB maintenance crews on park trails and sidewalks throughout the city.

Park staff and patrons can use the map to see where and when MPRB's established plowing routes were cleared; they can also submit requests, issues or complaints related to snow and ice.
