IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION

FCLE- Florida Civics Literacy Exam
  • Fall/Winter FCLE- Florida Civics Literacy Exam will take place on the week of 11/8/21.
  • Things to know:
  • 80 multiple choice questions.
  • Raw score immediately given, once test is over.
  • 60% is passing.
  • Florida state colleges and universities (public) will require students to have taken and passed this exam.
  • All students who are registered and taking United States Government, United States Government Honor, and Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics will be taking this test.
  • If you are registered this semester in any of these classes, you will be taking the test this fall. If you are registered for these classes in the spring 2022, then you will take it in the spring 2022.

  • Florida Statute 1003.4282(3) requires high school students to take the Florida Civics Literacy Exam (FCLE) beginning in the 2021-2022 school year. Specifically, all students enrolled in a United States Government course are required to participate in the assessment.
  • Students earning a passing score on the assessment while in high school are exempt from taking the civic literacy assessment once they enrolled in a Florida college or university, as required by 1007.25(4), F.S.
  • Passing the FCLE is not a graduation test requirement, nor are the results calculated into a student’s final course grade.
  • Results of the FCLE are not included as a component of school grades.
  • The FCLE is being offered twice during the 2021-2022 school year, with one administration window in each semester.
  • Students enrolled in the U.S Government course during the fall semester should participate in this assessment during the Fall/Winter administration. Students enrolled in the course during the spring semester should participate during the Spring administration.
  • MYA- Mid Year Assessments will begin on the week of 11/22/21 through 1/7/22.
  • Mid-Year assessments will be for English Language Arts 9th and 10th grade, algebra 1, and Geometry.
  • Teachers will inform students.
  • MYA- Mid Year Assessments will begin on the week of 1/18/22 through 2/18/22.
  • Mid-Year assessments will be for Biology and US History.
  • Teachers will inform students.
  • ACCESS FOR ELLS
  • Will start on 1/24/22

  • TEST INFORMATION FOR ALGEBRA 1 EOC AND FSA ELA:
  • Algebra 1 EOC concordant information: Retakes will start on 2/22/22 2022.
  • If you did not take or pass your algebra 1 EOC, do not despair. There are several options for you to meet the algebra 1 EOC graduation requirements.
  • You can get a 3 and above score in your geometry EOC. For those students who are taking the geometry class this year, you have a good chance at getting a comparative score for the algebra 1 EOC. DO YOUR BEST next May 2022!
  • Score a 430 and above in your PSAT/NMSQT exam
  • Score a 420 in the Math section of the SAT. (collegeboard.org
  • Score a 16 in the Math section of the ACT. (ACT.org
  • Take the algebra 1 EOC again. I strongly suggest the ACT/SAT/PSAT-NMSQT
  • FSA ELA concordant information:  Retakes will start on 2/22/22 2022.
  • If you did not take or pass your 10th grade FSA ELA (graduation requirement), do not despair. There are several options for you to meet the FSA ELA graduation requirement.
  • Score a 480 in the READ section of the SAT. (collegeboard.org
  • Score an average score of 18 in your Language/Reading section of the ACT. Simply, add both scores and divide by 2. (ACT.org
  • If you did not do well on your Geometry, Biology, or US History- do not worry. This past year, the district did not count it against you. The 30% was only added to your final grade if you did well or it would have helped your grade.
  • FSA ELA and Algebra 1 EOC are the graduation requirements. However, the geometry will serve as a comparative score to the algebra 1 EOC if you get a 3 or above.

  • PSAT/NMSQT INFORMATION- Scores might be available on 12/6/21-12/7/21
  • If you took the PSAT/NMSQT on 10/13/21 at our school, scores will be available around December 6th or 7th according to College Board.
  • To get your PSAT/NMSQT scores, you MUST CREATE AND ACCOUNT WITH Collegeboard.org
  • College Board decided NOT to send PAPER scores to students this year and are asking ALL students to register with college.board.org to be able to view their scores online.

Paws for Panthers 2021
Paws for Panthers works with our school social worker to “make things happen” for our least privileged, most at risk students, who are coming from broken families, abuse situations, severe financial need, aging out of foster care or with no home at all. We welcome and care for every student coming to our school.

We are starting our holiday gift card drive for Paws for Panthers. These gift cards are on every student’s wish list for the holiday season. Wish lists for Paws for Panthers will be coming later this month, so please check this newsletter and the sign up genius link for updates! You may also contribute funds that will be used to fulfill wish list asks and provide support during the school year (last year students received a spring break bag with a Target gift card and beach towel), by sending a check to the school, payable to MPSH PTSA, with Paws for Panthers in the memo line.

Gift cards are due no later than December 10 (the sooner the better) and can be dropped in the LOCKED PTSA box in the Attendance Office.

Thank you for your generosity and for caring about our students.

2-  tutoring.mdpls.org
Tutoring.com is normally a paid service through The Princeton Review, but is free for students with a library card (easy to get- see below).
“Experts help you with homework, study for tests and write essays from noon to midnight daily.” The student can have typing or voice chat. They can request a specific tutor that they have worked with before or take a random tutor. The entire interaction is recorded and the student can put the transcript into a personal virtual locker. They can email it to their teacher or refer to it in the future.
Other Notes:
If a student doesn’t have a library card, they can get one almost instantly at https://www1.mdpls.org/webservices/ecard/Account/Register.

If they have any issues with logging on to any of the resources, customercare@mdpls.org can resolve problems from M-Th 9am-8pm, Fri & Sat 9am-6pm.

Public libraries are open for students to study in, with safety measures in place. They also have computer access. For locations and hours: https://www1.mdpls.org/webservices/locator/
